Find yourself a Metal Zone if you wanna just make big horrid metal noises, they have a bad rep from purists but they're versatile as gently caress and just a good one to have in the arsenal. Also for a bit more bite, try harder pics, .73s are good for acoustic cos they have give and will brush along strings for a nice acoustic sound, but if you want attack, go with something a little harder. I use Dunlop Tortex .86 or 1mm, the .86s are preferred simply because they are bright green and are hard to lose sight of (I think the .73s are bright yellow which is good) and the 1mm are blue. I stopped using black pics ages ago cos they ALWAYS went missing and became invisible.

Similar, but for different reasons I'm "expected" to go to my nephew's christening next weekend, I'm not going I didn't learn they were born untill a week later via my partner's Instagram "hey Jestery, your sister had their baby" "oh word" I was quite literally the last person to find out. I didn't learn their name untill a month later Learnt the sex 6 months later Seen the baby maybe twice - three times? We aren't even Catholic? To be blunt, I've not been included in the life of this little person, I just have no connection to them and would rather poo poo in my hands and clap than spend a a day preparing to spend hour in a church listening to so old white dude drone on for an hour and dunk a baby It sucks, but on the only metrics I have, I'm closer to some coworker's children than to my blood nephew I'd say it sucks, but I haven't lost anything it's just a mode of existence

I had a great deal of contact with his almost 4 year old sister until covid came along, but it's been very sporadic since early 2020 (me being medically vulnerable has also played into this).

Hopefully by the time he's old enough to remember, it will be safer for people to gather in significant numbers. I'm estranged from my brothers and things are tense between my eldest daughter and my son so I totally get it.

Now it's on a board I just run into the input with the rest of the chain but it was a good way to get a decent and consistent tone when renting one of the 5 random amps at the studio. I also spent $1500 on a Markbass amp w/ tube preamp only to entirely bypass it as mentioned above.

I've found that making sure my kid understands that family absolutely can be people who we choose has helped. It's also been helpful for me to keep this idea in my mind and surround myself with good people when we're able to.
