Wilbur washed ashore on an island like 12 hours after falling off the boat
Wilbur almost immediately realized it was a resort island
Wilbur apparently has not attempted to contact anybody in the last week

This plot was painstakingly workshopped to be a dumb as possible.

So Wilbur has been floating long enough that his pants were ragged and he lost a shoe, but not so long that he lost his glasses (or his life), but long enough that the ship stopped looking for him. And he's been on an island with a bar for a week but hasn't called home.

Just want to be clear where we're at in this story.

I don't know anything about cruise ship procedures so is it normal that if there's an island relatively close to where a cruise ship is (since Wilbur was able to drift there in a few hours) that they just don't even check the island if someone goes overboard?

I think Moy wants to quit, but she wants severance pay. So she's trying to make the plot dumb enough that she'll get fired.

If she only realized *nothing* is too stupid for the modern comics editor.

Rex Morgan is really annoying me.
I can't imagine she (or her parents) would be in any way liable for for any infringement, and their lawyer would have told them that. Second, Rene needs proof of his creation pre-dating the book's publication; he can't just grab some piece of art that has been in a closet for two years that literally no one else has ever seen unless he has some way of verifying its creation, and probably has to prove that Sarah saw it somehow.
Third, any published author worth their salt will never take ideas from readers, for precisely this reason.
