Yeah it’s pretty damning that the best episode of Boba Fett gives him exactly zero minutes of screen time.

Main problem is that the story just isn’t interesting, but also Temura Morrison is pretty old to be playing this part, and it feels kind of like a late Roger Moore Bond movie where no one is acknowledging how old he is.

A part of me wishes they zagged with Boba Fett and instead of being some cool warrior fighter like the Mandalorian, he's actually very clever and outsmarts his opponents. He's old, and going toe-to-toe with younger adversaries just isn't going to be believable. After all, it's shown that he figured out Han's trick in The Empire Strikes Back, so him laying out elaborate traps or pitting forces against each other would've been better.

Considering The Mandalorian is heavily influenced by Lone Wolf & Cub, The Book of Boba Fett could've ripped off [b]Yojimbo and nobody would've batted an eye.

Finished the episode. They should just let Bryce Dallas Howard, John Favreu and Dave Filoni only direct the shows.

The thing that nobody wants to admit about The Book of Boba Fett is that Boba Fett was never actually cool, we all just underwent some sort of collective psychosis and decided that he was cool based on only having 30 seconds of screen time in the original Star Wars movies.

E: maybe the old EU novels make him cool in hindsight but I'm not a fuckin nerd.

Wasn’t The Jedi episode from the last season of Mandalorian already pretty heavy on Yojimbo, or am I thinking of it referencing a different Kurosawa movie?

Either way, I’ve still enjoyed the show a ton, even if the Fett episodes weren’t as good as the last one.

It's completely this. Star Wars EU built up an insane amount of hype for characters by building backstories for folks that got limited screen time. Having a whole story dedicated to IG-88 & Bossk is something else.

Yeah, but still like that leads us to wonders like this:

Now, I haven’t read the Bounty Hunters books in probably 10-12 years, but they have their moments mixed in with all the batshit backstabbery across two simultaneous narratives set 3~ years apart, and are far from the worst things in that era of EU books.

its this.

Like last week's episode you had so many wasted opportunities to find a direction to take this character. You can make him seem shrewd and calculating if you have him win over some of the assorted crime lords to his side. That also fits in with the weak posturing thus far that he's trying to rebuild a more peaceful Tattooine. You can make him ruthless by feeding one to the rancor, which fits with prior perceptions of the character as a cold-blooded bounty hunter. gently caress, have him drop all of them into the pit and show he's not loving around. Instead he just asks a couple of polite questions and then comes off as some milquetoast old guy who's in over his head. It's like whoever's writing this wanted to pick the Bad Guy path in a video game but just can't bring themselves to pick any of those options.

Edit: also congrats to Fartknocker on the job!

Have you considered that some people may enjoy exercising in this manner and while their business model of expansion and profitability has had impacts on their market cap, the actual product could actually be good?

Or is it easier to just hold a strong opinion about something you know next to nothing about?

Awfully strong response to me saying that their business operations over the years, up until their IPO, were pretty consistent with a company whose ownership and investors had an exit strategy as their endgame.

Now it's just funny to see them foundering because they're sitting on entirely too much inventory because they badly misforecast demand.

i don't really know what a company designed for VC cash/sales to a company means. they are definitely on the hype train of monthly subscriptions, selling a nebulously premium example of a normal thing and a lot of lock-in via the devices but i'd say that's all symptoms of capitalism rather than something more devious than that.
