No, it was not an actual noteworthy movement with any actual clout. It was a bunch of people emptily complaining about the ruthless crush of capitalism on Reddit and aping off the Great Resignation, which is an actual thing. Reddit is in conniptions because a moderately big subreddit was embarrassed publicly and erased itself, thus embarrassing Reddit along with it because Reddit has an overinflated view of its importance to the world.

Eh, exposing millions of people to some of the issues of being underpaid, humiliated by management and customers and forced to work to arbitrary and capricious whims is actually a pretty valuable thing for strengthening support for reform.

I think Jeet Heer put it best in his piece on the ban:

quote:

At one point, board member Tony Allman says, “It shows people hanging, it shows them killing kids, why does the educational system promote this kind of stuff, it is not wise or healthy.”

It’s hard to imagine any honest book about the Holocaust that doesn’t deal with the killing of kids.

When I was in 8th grade my family took a vacation to DC and one day we visited the Holocaust museum. In one of the rooms there was a raised concrete structure that you had to be about as tall as an dult to see over and into and I was taller than average so I could. Inside were TVs displaying images of Nazi medical torture victims and it profoundly affected me. I've had a lifelong interest in the Holocaust I think partly as an attempt to comes to terms with how anyone could do that to their fellow man. I'm sure before that I knew about the Holocaust as some event in the abstract sense but there is a universe of difference seeing the horrors as they were. Maus is child's play in comparison to what kids should be taught and shown.

What really gets me is that they just didn’t care. They didn’t care enough about this suit to understand why they were being deposed or who the lawyer represented or why the questions he was asking were important.

How Daria’s preparation was to print out Wikipedia articles of historic events that may have been false flag events as though any of that was relevant to her role of explaining the Infowars corporate policies and methods or employee work roles and allocations.

I really want to read the brief from the plaintiffs lawyer asking for damages. It’s going to just rip these people with their own comments and bullshittery and it’s going to be great.

I just don’t think that even if the jury awards a penalty so massive it destroys Infowars and all it’s officers personal wealth that it will have any effect on them. They won’t have remorse for their actions they will just go on some other nut jobs show and complain about how corrupt the system is that it could do this to them.

Maybe, just maybe, seeing Alex and Infowars be gutted will make Fox and OAN and the rest start thinking a little more carefully about what lies they air. But probably not because they are much smarter already about how they phrase their claims so as to avoid this sort of thing.

That’s one thing to keep in mind in regards to Info Wars vs Fox News: Fox News would hire truly spectacular defence lawyers with a budget to the moon.

Infowars hires their best buddy’s uncle who is totally innocent of that DUI charge from last week I swear.

Another thing I thought about regarding that deposition is that I think the lady, whatever her name was, is probably a true believer in the batshit stuff, because she *can* be, not being a public figure for the company. All the actual talking heads on IW like Alex are grifters first and foremost, so Alex can, when he sees the jig is up, bluntly admit that yeah, those e-mails are horrific. The woman can’t bring herself to do that because she hasn’t had years of hypocritical internalising that tells her when to switch off the crazy.

She drank the Kool-Aid while Alex just pretended to.

Right wing media is really milking the Jason Rivera thing. Hannity played the eulogy from his widow and talked about how "If you still support defund the police and no bail laws after hearing this, you have no heart or soul." Not going to go hard on a woman who lost her husband, but it was just a lot of "Our way of life, our society is under attack" and poo poo.

I made it about two hours into it before falling asleep. The first 20 minutes is an interview with the lawyer for the plaintiffs explaining what the whole thing was about and acting as a giant disclaimer about the fact that one of the hosts of the podcast acted as a reference aid for the prosecution and helped them compile and collate the mountain of video and written evidence used against Jones in the trial and depositions. The rest of the podcast is playing and reacting to excepts from Jones's deposition, and then the lawyer for Info Wars' parent/shell company.

It's just an endless stream of Jones being expertly goaded and railroaded into absolutely loving himself over with his own mouth because that bullshit lie of "Alex Jones is just playing a character on his show and he doesn't actually believe any of the things he says" is in fact a lie and the man you see screaming all the time and hocking soy pills that make you black out and poo poo yourself violently and talking about how all these insane conspiracy theories are real is 100% the Actual Alex Jones. It gets to the point about and hour and a half into it that the plaintiffs' lawyer has boxed in Jones so tightly that Jones just starts doing an impromptu Info Wars show as a filibuster to try and bulldoze out of the question being asked, and the lawyer just has none of it.

tl;dr: It's several hours of Alex Jones completely unraveling because he can't stand up to actual facts and he's a leaf in a hurricane outside of his Info Wars echo chamber.

Not to excuse Jones or Infowars, because they are gigantic pieces of poo poo, but the child porn genuinely wasn't theirs. Someone emailed it to Infowars,no one opened it or views it, then in response to a discovery request they gave the other lawyers all the emails in their system to bog them down.

Turns out the other lawyers are actual lawyers who do law poo poo, so they had a bunch of people go through the discovery and found it.

If you are new to Knowledge Fight, I highly reccomend their " Wacky Wednesday " episodes. Its when they take a break from Inforwars and listen to some crazy lady on YouTube yo talks about Pleadians, intergalactic spiders that won Vietnam for the VC, and a talking spaceship piloted by a murderer in prison who is allegedly married to a space raptor.
