As far as talking about Outer Wilds, it feels hard to do so without getting into spoiler territory so...yeah. Though I wonder if the DLC will be covered at some point.

I don't know what Jade considers the stupidest Outer Wilds death, but I just crashed into a tree right next to the starting launchpad, got stuck with damaged thrusters, tried to get out in the hope that I could do something and only then realized I hadn't put my suit/thrusters on as I fell to the ground.

So that Ranger took his overwatch shot immediately ~35 minutes in instead of waiting for a better one. Phoenix Point allows you to pre-set the 'cone' so they're not just blasting into space. Have you ever thought of LPing Phoenix Point, Jade? It's still kind of doughy and undercooked, but I like where it's going at least, and has some fun ideas.

Picked up a month of Gamepass for a buck to try it out, and I may have to wait for more Jade interludes to experience Outer Wilds. Found my way to one area and had extreme chest-tightening claustrophobia. Had to meditate my way out of there before I could explore. Feel clever for figuring it out though, so I'm kinda torn.

Real happy with the following mod; Soundtrack Restoration - WotC + TLE;quote:Reuses soundtracks added with XCOM UFO Defense (TLE), XCOM Enemy Unknown, Shen's Gift, Alien Hunters, Lost and Abandoned missions in addition to few others from the base game that are rarely used. By default this mod makes all these soundtracks play randomly during gameplay (without the need to change soundtracks manually in game options). The synth tracks are my fav but its nice to hear the entire spectrum of good tunes xcom has. E: also godsdamnit jade, I was free, I was out, I'd not played xcom since wotc released. you brought me back you sonofa-... The modding community's done some real interesting mods since I last looked. Some of this poo poo's crazy, especially most of RealityMachina's stuff. MEC's? loving MEC's in xcom 2?! Not everything it tries to do works out perfectly, but I appreciate the effort to innovate and add to the genre. I could consider an LP of it, but I don't think it'd be this sort of 'game guide' LP I do with other strategy games. I think it'd be more of an analysis, breakdown, and discussion of the game, what it did differently, what worked and what didn't work and why. And why the Cult of Anus is bad and full of dumb gross squid people.

Definitely agree with guava that you get a much better haul not grabbing every chest you see immediately. For instance not grabbing them after a dash move or ending your turn next to them: 1) it keeps the cover around if you need to stay put next turn 2) it might burn advent's crate marking on their turn 3) there is literally zero opportunity cost. You are guaranteed to own the crate the second you step next to it barring soldier death/incapacitation. And of course, as mentioned early on in the video, a mad dash into safe area without aliens for a crate advent marked way the hell away from you is infinitely safer than a mad dash into uncleared fog. One big thing I don't remember coming up as well: advent doesn't start pulling crates until you leave concealment. Sneaking around the first pack to get a more central position can leave you in a much better position when advent starts marking crates. It does bear the risk of fighting two forces on either side of you if you mess it up though.

Guava mentioned possibly farming Lost and yeah the setup is "get on top of something" because they have no ranged attacks and can't move-attack up a ladder if you've got guy blocking the tile at the top. e FoolyCharged posted:I have definitely abused the lost's mortal weakness to ladders in order to protect my dudes before. Fun fact about the Hunter, by the way: Jay mentioned he doesn't even *know* what happens if you get hit by the Hunter's Tracking Shot because it's so easy to move out of. There's a recent mod that changes that. It makes it so that instead of you have to move, you can't move. Much more potentially problematic.

It's kind of a meta tactic since you can use it to power-level a hero class and having a super high level hero basically trivializes every mission. Will loss isn't even that bad, since while Lost aren't worth a lot of xp you can kill a lot of them each turn with height advantage and that resistance order Jade is using.
