Correct--but you can totally run around him right now.

I love him as a developmental prospect but holy poo poo did they not teach him how to pass set any better at Minnesota. Although to be fair, nothing that offense did appeared competent or fun.

He's right but it's not like behemoth blockers that can't block are guaranteed failures. I could see him easily fitting in a zone blocking scheme that ignores the whole unable to contain anyone problem

Oh, I extremely want him on the browns or bengals because a good OL coach could make him utterly horrifying just off of some very minor things like “please learn to watch the rusher’s hips and hands” and “put your hands under the guy’s shoulder and push diagonally as opposed to just out” but he legitimately has such a crazy profile that even average technique could make him a pro bowler like with Becton.

As is, he’s like a solid mauler who could be taught zone rules and just “run to spot, but guy” and not worry about it. He’s really good in the limited screen games he’s had to play, so he’s clearly got the ability, just didn’t do himself any favors playing where he did.

The bengals and rams both make this uh...questionable

Apparently the secret is to have a million receivers so defenses freak out and think that have to drop 8 all the time.

I'm quickly reaching a point with this OL class where I just kind of throw my hands up if you need a tackle. Do you really need a pass blocker? Take Cross and hope to god your running game isn't confusing. Want a road grader who occasionally looks like a perfect T prospect outside of big vertical throws? Evan Neal has a perfect RT skill set while also appearing most comfortable on the LT spot which somehow keeps happening with Saban OL. Want a shorter prospect who you could convert to a pro bowl G if he busts at T for being too short or failing to drive through guys? Ikem Okwonu. Not picking high enough but want a LT prospect who could be a pro bowler if you get him consistently not letting his hands get ahead of his feet? Nick Petit-Frere. Want a Kaiju who could play any scheme but can't sustain a pass block on anything more than like a 5-step unless a guy is stupid and tries to bull rush him? Faalele.

Cross
Neal
Ekwonu
Petit-Frere
Faalele

The IOL class rocks though. Linderbaum is really really good and maybe the best Zone blocker inside we've had in a bit, and you could hide his size on OL easier if you have an oversize G next to him and just focus on him always being the second man. Salyer and Green both look like they could run anything and ruin dudes. I'm excited looking at the tape so far.

Have you watched Trevor Penning at all? He's been consistently linked to the Ravens for being large, violent, and nasty. Doesn't look like a similar player to Teven Jenkins, but the connection to Baltimore on superficial characteristics is very reminiscent of the draft talk last year.

Linderbaum's tape basically pops out in the same way Kelce's does with his intelligence. It's good coaching to teach oline to have their head on a swivel and will probably separate the turn of the millennium greats from modern day ones like Yanda, Brooks, and Nelson. Linderbaum is just five times the technician Kelce could hope to be and it definitely comes from his wrestling background. He's all sumo and has such a nice, easy bend to his blocks to get low.

I don't think he's as versatile as some draft reports make him out to be. I can't picture a lot of offenses that would want a short, thinner anchor anywhere but LG for zone schemes and even then he'd probably be wasted there. It just sucks that center is a meh position and becoming one of the most fungible ones. Teams just pass way too fast too often now and guys like Creed Humphrey are setting records with above average play.

That's the literal definition of letting a guy into your pads, he never even got set and punched. I kind of hope Faalele falls to the 4th and the Panthers can pick him up and just chuck him with Campen and see what happens. Campen did a lot with late rounders everywhere he went.

So apparently Pickett's hand size is 8.25. Which is smaller than Michael Vick who had 8.5 at when he was measured. Burrow got laughed at for his at the time and his were 9. For reference Alex Smith who's like routinely mocked for his were 9.4.

Sanders is a speed specialist who needs to play super wide and bend because his power sucks but he also has stiff ankles. It’s a bad match for Faalele, but uh…I told y’all you can run around him.

Co-sign most of this. Only thing I would note is that I think you could stick him at either guard spot IF you have a war daddy tackle on the right who can get to the edge AND be like 350. He’ll fit wherever he needs to but him plus 20 pounds is Quinton Nelson part two. Just can’t risk him pulling against teams with big fronts right now.
