Meanwhile, the initial reports on the PSG thing seem to have been inaccurate. Difficult to find English sources, but the current police theory points to an ex of Hamraoui. https://mobile.twitter.com/Mayca_Jimenez/status/1459558386601799695

The NWSL Final will be #3 Washington Spirit (1-0 winners against #6 Gotham FC, 2-1 winners at #2 OL Reign) vs. #4 Chicago Red Stars (1-0 AET winners vs. #5 North Carolina, 2-0 winners at #1 Portland). Sure was nice of Portland to suck more than the Reign did to make me feel a tiny bit better.

And the 2021 NWSL season has come to a close. A rather "interesting" season, to be sure, but at least no hitmen were involved () Recap Cup: Washington Spirit (2-1 AET over Chicago Red Stars thanks to Kelly O'Hara's only goal on the season at 97') Shield: Portland Thorns (44 pts, 13-6-5) MVP: Jess Fishlock, OL Reign Golden Boot: Ashley Hatch, Washington Spirit (11g, 0a) Defender: Caprice Dydasco, Gotham FC Keeper: Aubrey Bledsoe, Washington Sprit Rookie: Trinity Rodman, Washington Spirit (she is legit) Coach: Laura Harvey, OL Reign (given how 2021 went, this is pretty much an award for being the least lovely person in charge of a team) Best XI: Kailen Sheridan (Gotham FC); Caprice Dydasco (Gotham FC), Alana Cook (OL Reign), Sarah Gorden (Chicago Red Stars), Carson Pickett (North Carolina Courage); Ashley Hatch (Washington Spirit), Jessica Fishlock (OL Reign), Eugenie Le Sommer (OL Reign); Midge Purce (Gotham FC), Trinity Rodman (Washington Spirit), Angela Salem (Portland Thorns)

I mean as long as the players are not being paid in griftcoin then I don’t see much wrong with it. It’s a sponsorship like any other. I don’t like the industry but it’s flush with money right now and hopefully the NWSL gets paid from this. Just have to hope the league isn’t actually tying anything financial to the crypto market.

Milan seems to be in the middle of turning the team from title contenders to mid table because the manager, former Milan men’s team player Maurizio Ganz, is alienating all of the good players. After losing Hasegawa in the summer and benching/not even calling up Vero Boquete, it’s being reported that the captain and arguably our best player, Valentina Giacinti, is on the way out in this transfer window. Absolute shame, and I wonder what the hell is going on. Nobody is admitting anything in public yet; I hope Ganz isn’t some sort of sex pest.

There was some worries about the upcoming NWSL season not happening because there was no CBA in place https://twitter.com/nwsl_players/status/1488326369222094850?s=20&t=dknWbvGjynF9uMbuoVl40g Although it is rather sad that the minimum salary is a paltry $35k/yr

Alright, the draw against the Czechs was kind of embarrassing; we gotta do better today. I am glad that we're trying out younger talent though. Dropping almost everyone 31+ feels a little extreme, but this is the right time to try it. edit: we take own goals! edit: twice! surf rock fucked around with this message at 21:27 on Feb 20, 2022 |

Maybequote:Stan van den Buijs (born 8 June 1957) is a Belgian retired football player, who is most notable (or notorious) for scoring a hat-trick of own goals (three own goals) in one match while playing for Germinal Ekeren against Anderlecht in the 1994–95 season of the Belgian Jupiler League (Anderlecht won 3-2). However, a video from ActueelTV appears to show that while he scored two own goals the third was in fact put across the line by an attacker. Fake edit: I hit post just as that third went in
