IIRC it's because calls from rich white people are more likely to be categorized as mental health emergencies instead of crimes. It's because that is Kelly Cassidy's district and she was one of the main sponsors. Rogers Park also has a relatively large amount of halfway houses /supervised living facilities /etc. Just yesterday I had to chase away the crazy lady blocking my gate who "feeds the bunnies" (really the rats) and insist that at a minimum she not leave scattered plastic wrappers all over because no animal can digest your graham cracker wrappers.

Okay so tell me this as I honestly can’t tell: How much of this is just dirty laundry being aired versus it normally happening on the back rooms of party functions? It sorta sounds like the discussions presidential candidates might have to primary challengers or to get someone’s endorsement (cushy department posting or ambassadorship). But maybe there’s something else to it that stinks.

Newman’s district is gone, merged with Sean Casten’s, I think. When it came out, a lot of people thought it was revenge for taking out Lipinski, but then her scandal came out and I think most people are like, “oh… whatever.” She promised a guy a job to not run in the primary (which probably would’ve given it to Lipinski), put it in writing, and then never gave the dude the job. So even if you believe that’s politics-as-usual stuff, she’s exceptionally bad at it, enough to get into some level of trouble for it.
