Haha just saw that Canada goal. If there was any doubt this team is going to qualify, that goal should erase it. This team is working hard and getting all the breaks.

Alctel posted:3 games left? I think we are through! Top 3 qualify Goog shows the live standings as if the games in progress ended. They're not mathematically through yet, but if this result held, Canada finishing outside the top 3 would require Canada losing out, plus Mexico, USA and Panama winning out against other opponents, plus them having particular results in their matches together, plus some outrageous goal differential swings. e: There's a scenario where five teams finish on 25 points (Mexico and Panama draw; USA loses to Costa Rica, wins against Mexico, draws against Panama) fisting by many fucked around with this message at 05:33 on Feb 3, 2022 |

Almost, but Costa Rica can still hit 25 points, so it'd be down to goal differential for 4th.

Mexico winning would be good for Canada but bad for hilarity. For Canada to land outside the top 3 would then require - Canada losing out - Mexico losing to USA, and picking up at least 4 of 6 points elsewhere - USA to beat Mexico, lose outright to one of Panama or Costa Rica, and gain at least 1 point against the other - The one of Panama or Costa Rica that defeated USA to win out In which case the standings will look like MEX: 27 or 25 USA: 27 or 25 CAN: 25 PAN or CR: 25 Both Panama and Costa Rica trail Canada's differential by 13 goals It's almost certain at this point.

Another crazy "Canada how?!?! Stat" This is the first time EVER in WCQ in the current hex/octo format that a team has won 6 games in a row

I would have bet big against Canada last night. They were tired, didn't start their best 11 and after a 5 game win streak they were due for a loss. Somehow they won anyways, and this is a good reminder why I don't gamble on sports. Let's go Canada!

# ? Feb 3, 2022 15:38 |

That first goal was a really lucky break but looking at the replay he did amazing to not only get his head on the initial cross, but also direct it enough to hit the post. That would have been an outstanding goal. Couple of sitters missed though, and the set pieces looked kinda anaemic but hopefully just fatigue! Lets Go Canada!

Are we done with Gyasi Zardes yet? Every game he plays the US looks bad, well worse, than they do without him.
