If you can afford it, the oled is so worth it if you play handheld. Think about it. You got in 5 years out of use out of your switch so you obviously use it/ like it a lot, not to mention the battery is probably getting a little long in the tooth. As others mentioned, you can resell it so the upgrade won't be as expensive as full price

And man, better battery life, gorgeous OLED panel, and thinner bezels. I'm a big switch nerd and even though I got the red box model, I still upgraded. That was a bit wasteful but it still totally worth it. Especially after using the same device for 5 years, the OLED panel makes every game look better (pixel 2d games really really pop). The thinner bezels make the whole thing feel much more luxurious and are really nice for somebody who is hopelessly blind like me

Going from a straight launch unit to the OLED is a really nice upgrade. Add a nice matching grip and this is the coolest handheld I've ever owned. Don't do it if you only play docked though!!

Anyways, I got mine in white because I wanted it to feel nice and new! Blue and red model looks okay too but white is so slick

I've been alternating Fire Emblem and Mario. Fire Emblem would be a much better game if Byleth moved like Mario.

Hate to break up the Zelda discussion but I have a more mundane question....

My wife hates the joycon controllers, she hates them in that "holder" that turns them into a single controller. We bought a second controller, it seems to large for her hands (it is styled like an Xbox controller, I think, it's been a while).

What controller would you suggest for a person with small hands? Bonus points if it doesn't have an aggressive vibration feature, it scares the crap out of her.

It's also important to note Nintendo was replying to a question at the end of an earnings call, a situation in which the default answer is "sure if that will make money we'll look into it". So they weren't making an announcement about any real intent to do anything.

In Necrodancer proper the levels are all tight, generated dungeons (like in the Skull Kid expansion in Cadence). In Cadence you have the whole overworld and stuff.

I think the overworld would have been a pain to navigate if you had to do it on rhythm but thankfully you can just move however you want once the enemies on the screen have been cleared.

Also when looking at other reports of the Q&A it seems not only was the answer "Mostly about the metaverse", it was entirely about the metaverse and Furukawa never even mentioned NFTs in his answer. It only appears in the initial investor question

I am a lady with tiny, dainty hands. I use the Switch Pro Controller and I love it.

Seconding 8-bit Do controllers as an alternate. I have one of those too for computer games and I also love it.

I mean I know it's not really a constraint, for me I just didn't enjoy the format personally within a fantasy adventure franchise where travel and exploration were usually the focus. Very cool and original for its time though, some of us were just expecting a straight sequel to OOT.
To be honest I probably felt the same the first time I played MM which didn't get past Snowhead until I revisited the game years later. I just wasn't ready yet.

Ya' know, a friend that recently got a Switch asked me if third-party controllers are worth a drat and I wasn't sure how to answer. As a 90's kid, I strictly adhered to the "cheap third-party controller for annoying younger brother/friend no one likes" system, but I forget it's 2022 now and I don't know if that's still relevant.

I do have a couple of 8bitdo controllers that I love and vouched for those, though, but otherwise I suggested he splurge on a Pro controller. Was I wrong?

I mean, the Pro is going the be the best bet all around but 8Bitdo and PowerA make great controllers. Never once had an issue with them.

some people say the Dpad on the Pro controller is questionable and I must concur

Need to do that thing where I open it up and place something on the PCB contact patches to deaden the response a little to avoid the ol' unintended left or right/up double input

high quality third party controllers are now very much a thing, on PS/XBOX this is now including premium controllers made by "gaming" peripheral companies that are actually more expensive than the first party ones

I know the switch is all about being lightweight and minimal but the eshop is really loving dire to navigate. I miss the categorization and overall layout from the Wii U eshop. This is like, 1000 games are on sale, here’s a giant loving page bursting with shovelware. Like yeah I know there’s a wishlist and a search but in terms of simply browsing, it’s dire.

3DS shop has to be the worst of the worst. Busted out the 2DS because my kid wanted to play 3D Land and the search function is useless. Putting in the exact title of a game brings up unrelated results (and most of them not even games. It’s usually trailers and what not).

Anyway, It’s so sad James McCloud died of PIGMA.
