The governor of the Bank of England tells the BBC that workers negotiating their pay this year should not ask for too high a rise in order to help bring inflation under control.

Andrew Bailey says he is concerned that higher pay will lead to rising inflation and could become ingrained in the economy.

"We need to see a moderation of wage rises," he says, conceding that the idea would be painful news for workers.

"I don't want to sugar that, it is painful. But we need to see that in order to get through this problem more quickly," he says."

Welcome to Westminster, 47.

Your target is Alexander Johnson, also known as 'Boris', leader of the Conservative Party and Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. Ever the populist, Johnson rose to fame by attacking racial minorities and relentlessly sowing division within party ranks to serve his own political agenda. Whilst successful beyond all apparent reason, it appears this approach may have finally come up short.

Our client, a consortium of media barons, business leaders and leading politicians, have become frustrated that Johnson is no longer willing to abide by the terms of their funding agreement. Unusually, the board have agreed to abide a specific request: the target is not to be harmed. Instead, their reputation must be annihilated beyond all repair. In particular, the client has instructed you to ensure that no blame is apportioned to any other cabinet members.

A source from within Downing Street has also provided a list of breadcrumbs that may prove useful, 47. Be aware, however, that Johnson is certainly no stranger to dirty tricks, and may well have prepared countermeasures of his own... just be careful not to burn the house down.

Good luck, 47.

I think the £150 council tax rebate and the £200 energy bill reduction are different things.

If I understand the idea the latter is a loan to the remaining energy companies that allows them to give every customer a £200 credit on their bill, and the energy companies will be repaying the loans (and so presumably putting it on your bills when wholesale prices are lower) rather than the government trying to administrate millions of small loans to individuals.

The £150 council tax rebate is a straight tax rebate funded by selling your library to a company that makes nazi meth or something.

The council tax rebate has an interesting twist for renters as there's nothing to make landlords pass on the saving to their tenants.

Is council tax included in rent* very often these days? When I was renting a couple of years ago, I paid it directly and everyone I know who is renting pays it directly.

*by which I mean you don't pay it yourself, whether or not it is a 'line item' on your rent, much as rates were normally added into the rent calculation by landlords not specifically stated as that giving gammon of the 1970s/80s plenty of Us And Themness to moan about (renters don't pay rates - well of course they do because Landlords don't pay it out of the goodness of their hearts, they would be including it as part of rent calculation).

Landlords should be paying utilities in a HMO, and tenants pay council tax when renting multiple properties.

Obviously that's not always true for the first case (my student rents always passed bills to us because we didn't know any better), but it will be a minority of the renter population that have to deal with the bills and can't get the pathetic council tax cut

But the thing with right wing gay people is that they do not believe that all gay people should be free to be themselves, they believe that they should be free to do it and that everyone else should have it be used as a thing to oppress and control them. Which is entirely consistent with the way they view everything else in the world.

There are people who through their experience of discrimination, come to understand that it is necessary for liberation to be shared among as many people as possible, and the specific form of it they experience allows them to understand, sympathise with, and desire the liberation of other people who are oppressed in different ways, and who understand the necessity of universality if there is ever to be a hope of an enduring, safe, and happy world for them and others to live in.

And then there are people who just think "well what matters is that I'm rich and can afford to go to the right clubs where I can do what I want and everyone else can gently caress off"

Being gay, if gove even is, does not in any way necessitate that you are a decent person, it might give you a chance, depending on your circumstances, to find a productive kinship with a political movement that might make you into a better person, but it doesn't have to do that. It is very easy to find ways to integrate that part of yourself into a far shittier worldview. Gove works to produce a hostile, cruel world that hurts as many people as possible so that he can be on top of it and not subject to its cruelties, that's it.

Gove is a master of hiding and camouflaging himself from what he has done.
He's one of the few, prob only one, that stuck up for the £365 million bus lie that even Boris and Farage ran away from like Use Bolt.
He is/was in charge of customs for a while, when they were meant to get ready for Brexit or hire enough on the grounds workers for it.

Whilst we're talking about Council Tax, I'm unfortunate enough to work for a local authority and in the latest budget (or lack of) it was claimed that Councils won't actually see any of the money from the new 'social care levy/NI rise' for at least 3 years....

So where is the money from the raise actually going - isn't it really misleading to say it's going towards social care when it's probably just going towards the governments coke fund?
