Up until Avengers he was still heavily into house flipping and almost quit acting as that was making him more money.

Have you tried to cancel Bam?

Just watched the pilot [of Jack Reacher] and holy poo poo how does this reconcile with him being a midget in the movies lol.

It really is the generic smartass cop show with the lead who can fight 10 people at once but also has a PhD in criminal behavior or something. But it's still fun as hells, looks promising.

I was watching it under the assumption that it's a miniseries, for some reason. In that case it kind of works as a downer or bittersweet ending at least, but yeah it's not completely satisfying. It's still not completely satisfying of course.

Yeah, it's still got the problems with Jack Reacher in general, but a lot of the worst of the movies is solved by having the main character be a huge, jacked guy and not Tom Cruise trying to snark his way through fights as compensation for not being believably capable of beating up the people he's up against.

I enjoyed the show, though it felt very indulgent in a lot of ways.

Would you be my new best friends?

I've never read the Jack Reacher books but it cracked me up when they cast Tom Cruise and I looked up a character description, and apparently two of his defining physical traits are:

1. Is very tall.
2. Isn't very good at running.

How the hell they looked at those traits and said,"Tom Cruise is our obvious pick!" I'll never know understand very well because all they gave a poo poo about was casting a bankable known star in the lead.

Just finished up the first season of Reacher. I enjoyed it. It's not going to win any awards but its entertaining television. Just read that Amazon already renewed it for a second season so the numbers must be good.

I hope they let the lead (Alan Ritchson) open up a little more in the next season. Anyone who has seen Blue Mountain State knows how charismatic and funny the dude can be, although I know that's not the book Reacher.

After having to live through the last 20 years, I’d call being transported back to 1994 a happy ending rather than a cliffhanger.

Amanda Seyfried is Elizabeth Holmes in the Theranos miniseries. Kind of a Theranos overload since Jennifer Lawrence is doing a movie version.

Also unrelated but there are a bunch of Julia Childs projects coming soon. I'm glad because Julie and Julia would have been a great movie without the Julie parts.

One of them is an HBO thing starring Sarah Lancashire, so that'll be solid at least.

God, there was this Showtime(?) doc the covered all the awful poo poo she did, and then had the NERVE to end with "But maybe she was just a good person who just wanted to help people!"

Wouldn't be surprised if it was made by the same people who made that Hulu doc about WeWork, where they did the same thing about their founder.

The problem is that all the flashbacks in season 1 are just about Veronica being a bit of an airhead, and Lily being annoying and unlikable.
It’s hard to care too much about who killed Lily when you think that everyone on the show is better off now that she is gone.

Okay, so I just reached the end of season three of Search Party, and I've been enjoying it so far, but before I move to season four I have to ask is the majority of the season going to be Dory getting physically and psychologically tortured? Because I am not going to want to watch that and will unfortunately have to bow out of a series that I've been enjoying up to this point. Thanks in advance.

According to the books, he doesn't need an alarm clock, he can set a mental alarm clock in his brain and wake up at that exact second the next day. Also he listens to music by simply remembering it perfectly, so in the show when he's just sitting there while some blues music plays, that's what's going on.

The show seems pretty great at getting the viewer to have moments of sympathy for otherwise objectively awful people. The last season is totally and immensely worth it though.

Most of season 4 is Dory getting psychologically tortured, yes, before leaping into the full on embrace of Stockholm Syndrome around the midpoint.

It's mildly horrific, yeah, but I don't think it goes too far and it still manages to be quite funny -- the fourth season of the show starts to have the world go a little broader to compensate for how specifically horrible the scenario could be seen as.

I'd still give it a go, but totally get if it's not your thing.

Reacher is overwhelmingly well reviewed so I wouldn't be surprised if most poeple ITT liked it too for real. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt9288030/?ref_=nv_sr_srsg_6

I dunno. The pilot was fun enough and entertaining enough in a way something like Walker Texas Ranger was. I'd definitely try another episode or two.

I'm definitely intrigued by Reacher. I enjoy that sort of pulpy material and want to see more of it adapted, but the previews for Reacher made it look a bit goofier than I want. I love the Hap & Leonard tone, where it can balance the goofy with a harder edge. Does Reacher go there, or is it just pretty light throughout?
