It's also a bad comic cause it shows four shocked judges while in reality only Ken Jeong and Robin Thicke were actually shocked and walked off while Jenny McCarthy and Nicole Scherzinger stayed to have a chat with Giuliani.

So I looked this up. To be fair, the claim is, in fact, that these were "occupied burglaries", that is done while the owners were home.
The city Branco doesn't mention is Orono, Minnesota... but the report also includes Minnetrista, so it's actually two cities, both in the same region near Minneapolis. The report comes from... "police". None of the articles I found even listed the spokesperson, and I guess without access to the actual reports we can't know more about the details or even accuracy than what "the police" said. From what I can tell, all those articles come back to an original CBS Minnesota article, but were brought to broader attention by Alphanews, an extreme rightwing rag with a "Faith" category for news.

The original article explains that these tended to be incidents of people leaving their garage door openers accessible somewhere, and the thieves used those to get into the garage, swept the garage/front room, and then left. They didn't even have to break a window or a lock. The thieves also generally didn't go any further into the house and nobody was confronted by or even noticed any of the thieves. They definitely weren't held at gunpoint in their bed, but I doubt anyone here assumed that was actually the case.
Both cities were recently listed among the wealthiest in the entire nation. As you can see in the following image, Minnetrista is actually incredibly safe, and in 2020 there were only 5 burglaries reported in the entire year.

So in conclusion, this was clearly one thief (or a group) hitting multiple houses in one night, not a rash of different criminals all cropping up. And by hitting multiple houses, it was probably just some dude realizing they all had their garage door openers in their unlocked cars. Or it was an insurance scam or some poo poo, I don't know. More cops wouldn't have helped because no alarm was ever raised. Even if cops were actively patrolling the area they'd have to follow this guy specifically, because anyone walking by would just see someone going to his car, opening his garage with the car opener, and going inside. Unsurprisingly, it's ultimately just pointing to a single-perpetrator outlier and pretending it's a trend.

It should also be noted, finally, that Minnetrista went to Trump in 2020.

Look at this incredible efficiency in maximizing panels per story beat. This strip alone could have sufficed as the first strip in this series of finding out who the opponents are. Instead, this poo poo has been dragged out across an entire week of Carmen and Winslow looking out of the window and saying "Oh no" over and over again.

I don't know about the senator thing because I can't be bothered to remember much about Prickly City, fortunately there isn't much to remember in the first place.
