Y'all keep saying that a Cat 5 is terrifying and it will wipe away buildings. Yet Hurricane Michael hit the Florida panhandle and people still live there. Mexico City in Florida got hit by it and it still exist on the map. Kinda doesn't seem like a Cat 5 actually is that dangerous as y'all claims it to be. There should be a Cat 6 for those hurricane that *does* wipe everything away.

Speaking of which, I need to buy a new window air conditioner for this summer. Should probably order it now before they all sell out. Any good brand recommendations? Any to avoid? I know this is only tangentially related to weather, but I didn't see any "PYF Air Conditioners" in the Inspect Your Gadgets forums. EDIT: It got all rotted and corroded from humidity because I did not cover it with a tarp over the winter.

i have window units. haier has ultra quiet single room models that i've liked for bedroom/livingroom since you can hear the tv over them and they dont click on with a big noise at night but they cant do a whole apartment on their own at only like 6000btu. so i bought a gently caress off 12k btu slim model frigidaire that fits my back airshaft window in the hall where i dont care about noise and together they can keep the whole place temperature stable and minimize uptime on the compressors. the best part tho is my building super insists on installing and uninstalling them every year so i dont gotta do poo poo to lift them or deal with the cold when im too lazy to take them out in winter.
