the other day it occurred to me that you can't even really use these things as a title document where ownership of an asset passes by transferring the title document, because what happens if the blockchain gets forked? now you've got two title documents floating around that aren't guaranteed to end up with the same owner. who's gonna figure out who owns grandma's house?

https://www.theglobeandmail.com/business/article-canadas-first-bill-on-cryptocurrency-regulation-aims-to-boost/

quote:

Conservative MP Michelle Rempel Garner introduced the private member’s bill on Wednesday. It directs Canada’s Finance Minister to create a framework within three years to grow the cryptocurrency sector in Canada and reduce the administrative burden for those working in it. It specifically calls on the minister to consult with crypto experts in drafting the plan but does not set out what policy direction to take.

In an interview, Ms. Rempel Garner said the bill is needed because the crypto industry has shown dramatic growth in recent years and has the potential for more. At the same time, she said, public officials and lawmakers lack an understanding of the field, and it is her hope that the process outlined in the bill would bridge the gap between the public and private sectors on this issue.

pretty sure it would've because he straight up said in an interview it sold like poo poo and he was embarassed about it (because it sold like poo poo, not because it was an nft). also because it was part of a $100k merch pack with a t-shirt

it got even better when he said in the same interview he spent weeks working on the design only for the young bucks to put out basically the exact same design on a t-shirt a week later
