the other day it occurred to me that you can't even really use these things as a title document where ownership of an asset passes by transferring the title document, because what happens if the blockchain gets forked? now you've got two title documents floating around that aren't guaranteed to end up with the same owner. who's gonna figure out who owns grandma's house?

It directs Canada’s Finance Minister to create a framework within three years to grow the cryptocurrency sector in Canada and reduce the administrative burden for those working in it. It specifically calls on the minister to consult with crypto experts in drafting the plan but does not set out what policy direction to take.

lol a private member’s bill introduced by an opposition MP is about as effective as speaking to the senate wait no even less because one of the senators might have been listening (for anyone not familiar with Canadian politics, the executive is part of the legislative, MPs vote along party lines 99% of the time and the senate doesn’t serve a purpose)

i like how unhelpful "NFTs - non-fungible tokens recorded in blockchains" is if you didn't already know what an NFT was oh of course, a token that cannot be funged, recorded in blockchains, now i understand

it's been a year and i still don't understand fully what funging is, anyway that's not even the dumbest crypto headline i've seen today because this one i think was actually rejected by my brain when i first saw it in a "i know all these words but none of this makes sense" kind of way https://twitter.com/A_S12/status/1491822115955392518

fungible means you can exchange it for something of equal value- eg cash money is fungible because you can break a 20 for some singles there’s probably some way or other to funge an enefty though
