And since I have to be perfectly clear to avoid monkey paw shenanigans, don't make them pin lights or lens flares, just light those ships evenly please.

This. Every time you see people's quarters they're these ugly metallic shiny things that don't look at all pleasant to be in. Give some nice lighting to the ship and put some drat carpet down. Really embrace the fact that the future tech available means that these ships should be such comfortable places to be that they make the Ent-D look like a dungeon.

The new episode was boring, managing to turn another fate of the galaxy thing into Michael/Book relationship drama.

Whenever Michael isn't on screen, the rest of the crew should be asking, "Where's Michael?" and then they leave the show forever.

It's starting to feel like it's a parody of how everything has to revolve around her. You're either discussing Michael or you're trying to deal with your own or your partner's emotional fragility. The worst part of it all is that they can't even make that compelling, this is a staggeringly inert season so far.

I did like the reveal that the DMA is just 10-C's automated mining equipment. Really helps sell the whole 'Hyper-Advanced Civilization' thing they've got going on.

Yeah, I liked that. Though I fully expect Michael to somehow have to punch the unknowably large space tractor to death.

Yes. But more importantly, this brings back hope that the long awaited spin off series we were promised back in Assignment: Earth can't be far away either!

I'm gonna bet Booker will turn on Tarkle once he reveals himself to be trying to destroy this universe or whatever working with the cosmic bads so next season he can be back to their pocket han solo.

Well, I'll summarize my initial impression like this:

TV IV > Modern Star Trek Megathread: Eight (out of eleven) episodes in, Discovery's season 4 story arc manages to become moderately interesting

Maybe I'll post some more snark later when I don't have anything better to do. Man, Drexler better not be bullshitting us about Picard season 2 (and hopefully 3) not sucking.

I swear I thought this is what they were hinting at with Grudge from the start. But nope, just cat for the sake of cat.

I unironically loved how corny that was. Michael failing to hype up the crowd and coming up with a dumb wrestler name for Owosekun was great. One of my favorite little things is that she’s actually pretty terrible at doing anything besides being a protagonist so occasionally we get dumb little moments like this.

I have to wonder how that sounded when translated to literally every other person in the room’s native language from 23rd-century Federation Standard, though. Did the universal translator preserve the wordplay, or was it a complete non-sequitur?

It was good, but like I said, 8 fuckin episodes until the main season arc actually got interesting. It should have become interesting by like episode 3, and then, say, compelling by episode 8 at the latest.
