Fascism is perfectly happy to ally with its national capitalist elites because its fundamental analysis of society is based on races and nations rather than classes, so it envisions a society where workers and capitalists are harmoniously united by their shared German/Canadian/white/whatever racial or national identity rather than divided by their relationship to the means of production. This is also imo the best way to explain the difference between fascism and socialism to people who have never been taught about it past the surface-level condemnation our education system provides (both were authoritarian, genocidal, illiberal, etc., therefore both are the same), because it's pretty clear to see that one ideology is a movement of racial/national unity across class boundaries and the other is a movement of class unity across racial/national boundaries, which then leads to very different outcomes when fascists and socialists take power.
