Warlock of Firetop Mountain is on sale for $3 on the eshop down from $30. This was originally a physical gamebook by Steve Jackson mimicking the "Choose Your Own Adventure" series but with roleplaying elements like health points, items, and dice rolls.

This is not the version in the Fighting Fantasy compilation. This adaptation has a higher production value. It has additional unlockable characters, 3D engine, checkpoints, a mini tactical grid for combat, and new sections and illustrations. As you explore the set pieces and miniatures plop down like pieces on a board game. It's cute.

Is the MK8 dlc $25 for each wave of which there are 6? I can’t have read that right

Unless they really just want people to sign up to the Nintendo ++ tier instead

Edit: missed a bunch of posts about this. $25 for 48 tracks is insane

Is it free for N64 havers if they cancel the sub at a later date too?

Also the new pokemon game feels like it was designed by Mdickie. Not the graphics so much as how it feels like the devs decided to ignore decades of wisdom about how game physics should work. Also how much it shamelessly rips assets off.

If it's like Animal Crossing's DLC you lose access when your sub lapses.

Sold!

There was a cool first person 3D take on this back on the DS. It has horrible reviews for some reason but I've played through it at least twice and it's fantastic. Extremely impressive for the hardware too.

This looks like another neat take on the same materiel.

Every time I see a reference to uncles at Nintendo, I can't help but picture a huge group of David Koechner looking guys, in t-shirts and sweat pants, just milling about the office over at NoJ, asking everyone what they're working on.

Hello switcheroos. Looking for recommendations for games that can simultaneously be played online and couch co-op so my wife and I can play with my in laws in another state. So far Super Mario 3D World is our main thing and while it's hella fun, I'm just looking for something with a different flavor. I believe this also works for smash and Mario Kart, so other recommendations are welcome.

Thanks!

It doesn't really work for smash, sorry.

I think Mario Golf works this way, and the new Strikers game that's going to be coming out in June I think will do this.

Plus the Switch Sports compilation, also not yet released.

My wife has been enjoying Super Mario U (? I think that's the name, it is a "traditional side scroller") and Mario Party. She also likes the Lego games, so Lego Star Wars for the win when that comes out. I haven't tried it yet, but I suspect that she will enjoy Mario Kart as well.

Astro7x posted:

Got a little impatient here.

So in Mario Kart Tour they remade a poo poo ton of courses that were not in Mario Kart 8. Of the 41 retro courses, only 1 was also in MK8. So they have 40 track assets right there that they can probably port over quickly.

I quickly just colored those in Pink

There are also 11 different course themes in Tour that are completely original as well
-New York Minute
-Tokyo Blur
-Paris Promenade
-London Loop
-Vancouver Velocity
-Los Angeles Laps
-Merry Mountain
-Berlin Byways
-Ninja Hideaway
-Sydney Sprint
-Singapore Speedway

I am sure someone will analyze the trailer and can tell what has been revealed. But the 3 announced tracks are

-Tokyo Blur (Tour)
-Choco Mountain (Tour)
-Coconut Mall (Wii, Remade in MK7)

So... not even going strictly based on what was in Tour, which is interesting, since Coconut Mall is in there.

Will be interesting to see what is included in the DLC
