The T490 and it's contemporary X1 used the same battery by the way. I'm not sure of the point of the X1, since it was only a few millimeters smaller than the T490s in every direction, maybe 2mm thinner. More/better configs, maybe? We've only gotten a few of the new X1s (9th gen?) and T14s. I can't recall if those still have two batteries, but the earlier Ts did, which was handy. Our asset tags are the same size, but white, printed on site with actual machine info and issue date, which is neat. Previous job had silver pre-printed ones that just had a number. I would drive that.

Ror posted:and it seems surprisingly cheap for an auto hobby. Wiki says that circa 2012 they should cost about 2 grand to build which sounded optimistic, but I found a good article from 2021: http://www.huntsvillegp.com/articles/001/thecyclekart.htm I've been trapped in an airbnb the last week and a half and have basically been binge watching these videos for the entire time This guy walks through grinding and welding (and more grinding) up a basic ladder frame and aluminum tray, rivets etc. His fabrication skills leave a lot to be desired but he's doing this in his garage with his 8-10 year old son, and later builds one for his 70 year old dad so I guess the lesson here is that even with poor to medium fabrication skills it's doable https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=05rTCGFQnck The initial series is about 9 x 10 minute videos, and if you look through his video library he sort of figures out how the front end suspension geometry should work and by the time he's building his dad a kart and his son outgrows his first kart so he builds him a new one and he's worked out most of the kinks following the Stephenson formula which is the 1x3 steel tubing frame, live rear axle and leaf spring front suspension, 200cc motor Lots of technical detail at a "I'm a dad in my garage with a harbor freight welder and a harbor freight 4 inch grinder and we're gonna make a go kart" perspective, very approachable. He even lists off all the part numbers and websites he uses, I don't know if he could spoon feed it to you any better I have access to a real garage for the first time in years looking at fabricating up a frame with a bunch of harbor freight welding equipment

I was riding my bike. Then i found a Trabi. It's tiny! It's a Trabant 1.1, one of the last ones produced. IIRC in 1989 they finally decided to replace the 600cc two stroke engine with a Volkswagen Polo sourced 1100cc 4 stroke. With a whopping 40hp, it was considerably faster than the 26hp two stroke powered car. It was a final attempt to make their plastic 1960s car ready for the change to capitalism. Of course, no one in their right minds bought one after the Wall fell and western cars became available. LimaBiker fucked around with this message at 15:16 on Feb 11, 2022 |

My dad has a friend who owns the convertible version of that car, with doors. Bought it for a song in '92. It is a strangely cherished vehicle. Right lane on the Autobahn and the left lanes slow down to flash the peace sign at you before rocketing away. Cute, slow, and more than a little scary.

One of the prime directives of a car guy is to respect someone who puts effort into the car they love. Even if it’s a Trabant. Especially if it’s a Trabant.

It could be a 13B with an excellent exhaust, but that would be a 2-rotor. Either way, it sound great! edit: three ignition boxes, so leaning toward 3-rotor, but you can do three ignitions for a 2-rotor, too (L1, L2 direct fire, and both trailing) edit 2: the editing: Comments say it's a one-off 3-rotor using 13B housings, which I've seen before with the "Not-20B" from NZ. I guess a custom center plate and eccentric shaft? MrYenko posted:One of the prime directives of a car guy is to respect someone who puts effort into the car they love. But what about a PT Cruiser? This thing was in absolutely beautiful condition, both inside and out. Original radio and all. Definitely of someone who put a lot of effort into it. I also know a guy with a Wartburg and a 2 stroke Trabi. I was gonna get to drive the Trabi but it failed its MOT/APK and then C19 hit and then i lost contact with him

The company it seems we're talking about the possibility of doing a DS version but it looks like the move to wireless connection for gaming killed that one unfortunately.
