And the mercy seat is awaiting,
And I think my head is burning,
And in a way I'm yearning,
To be done with all this measuring of proof.
An eye for an eye
And a tooth for a tooth,
And anyway I told the truth,
And I'm not afraid to die.

Out of the nearly 200 countries on this earth there are like maybe 10 who even know who Roman Reigns is and in those countries a completely insignificant portion of the population know who he is. He is only a public figure through the most myopic view possible. There is no loving way some waitress knew who he was and also had whatever developmental disorder that would allow you to spout off some poo poo about Roman Reigns at your job. Wrestling fans are so loving stupid that advertising agencies, which are just rotten wombs filled with the worst of humanity trying to force feed sell anything and everything to anyone and everyone don't even acknowledge their bottom feeding existence. Their anecdote is bullshit and I doubt they've even been to a restaurant in recent memory.

I remember on old WWE commercial where it was like panning around various bars/restaurants where every single TV had WWE on it and people were running in from the streets and gathering around whatever TVs they could find to watch like it was the moon landing or something.

That's the world WWE Stans think they live in.

If I started calling myself Blowmen Brains, marketing myself as a dick sucking clown who would suck and blow anyone with the intention to one day suck off the mayor in every american town, within 4 weeks I would become more famous than Roman Reigns or any wrestler will ever become in the 21st century. These weird twitter people who believe in myths like "casual fans", wrestling demos mattering at all to anyone in advertising, or wrestling having any effect on popular culture are goofy.

I would guess that if you asked any rando off the street who Roman Reigns is, at the most there's a slight possibility they might know he's the Rock's cousin and that was it because all normie wrestling knowledge boils down to Hogan, Rock, and Austin

We really need to push back against this myth that Austin and Rock weren't workrate guys.

It's true that both guys were so good at promos and charisma that their in-ring work wasn't as important, but that doesn't mean they were coasting in the ring. In fact the opposite was true -- Austin and Rock spent every match bumping and selling their asses off, and then doing a bunch of cool moves to get the crowd invested in their comeback. Their matches hold up way better than the average kick-punch-stomp affair we normally saw in the Attitude Era, and that's even before you count Austin's WCW run where he was a legit great athlete before the knee injuries.

People over-romanticize that era so much they forget that, you know, you still had to be a good wrestler to get over.

People said at the time that Rock and Austin weren't workrate guys as well and tbf they were never on the same level as the Angle/Jericho/Guerrero section of the midcard but what they were good at was storytelling and pacing a match. Their sense of timing was spot on

Earth-1145 is truly the best!
A world of singing, magic frogs,
high adventure, no shitposters
I went ahead and looked up the greatest series of title defenses ever by Roman Reigns
1. Beats Jay Uso after Jimmy Uso throws in the towel
2. Beats Braun Strowman mostly clean
3. Beats Jimmy Uso in an "I Quit" match after Jey Uso says "I quit" on behalf of his brother
4. Beats Kevin Owens in a ladder match after copious interference from Jey Uso
5. Beats Kevin Owens in a Last Man Standing Match after not being able to get handcuffs off and technically losing but then doing a bunch of lowblows to Owens and the ref and etc.
6. Beats an exhausted Daniel Bryan who can barely stand after an Elimination Chamber contender's match
7. Beats Daniel Bryan after a bunch of bullshit that culiminated with Edge beating the poo poo out of Bryan with a chair and allowing Roman to win
8. Beats Daniel Bryan AND Edge after you guessed it, copious Jey Uso interference
9. Beats Daniel Bryan for the fourth time, this time cleanly in his last match for WWE
10. Beats Cesaro cleanly in the last match Cesaro should have had for WWE
11. Beats Rey Mysterio cleanly in a Hell in a Cell match on Smackdown
12. Beats Edge when Seth Rollins attacks Edge
13. Beats John Cena cleanly in probably his last match in WWE
14. Beats Finn Balor by kicking him in the nuts and then choking him unconscious
15. Beats THE DEMON Finn Balor when God makes the top turnbuckle break
16. Beats Brock Lesnar in Saudi Arabia when both Usos interfered and Roman hit Brock with the title
17. Beat Sami Zayn in fifteen seconds because gently caress Sami Zayn, gently caress you
18. Lost to Seth Rollins by DQ

Pure excellence, the fightingest champion
