In my case they sent me an entirely different trackingnumber as a private message which does show movement. Sent 26-01 currently stuck in dutch customs/delivery since 09-02 so will hopefully arrive next week.

I got mine in yesterday, and the tracking number he sent me by private message worked fine for them. Super comfy shoes, if a bit colder than what I'm used to since they're relatively thin fabric. The seller still hasn't replied to my WhatsApp message asking for a full catalog, though.

Saw these phone cases on a few Insta photos and was amused - looked up the actual products website and not that amused at the price - but AliX to the rescue https://a.aliexpress.com/_vb8ndU I was expecting it to just be a moulded plastic case, but it's actually soft vinyl with squishy padding inside. Does make your phone a fair bit fatter than your regular case, you'll have to get used to a new grip on your device when you put it on

For tuners and bridges I would recommend Guitar Fetish. Probably a little more than Ali but I have heard from lots of people that have used them and had good experiences (especially with pick ups). Very tempted to get a pedal board, power, and cables on Ali though.

Dug out my very old kindle because I am sick of reading on my phone, only to find the battery wouldn’t charge any more and ordered a replacement from Ali. Realise batteries from Ali are a risky house fire idea but what can you do. I kept getting refunded as it wouldn’t arrive or wasn’t sent but finally got one after eight months. They even included a little set of tools with it and it’s got Amazon beading (for what little that’s worth) Front needs a little clean but it’s working and holding a good charge. Just learned that Amazon shut down the old free 3G that it came with*, I was really into the idea of being able to get internet anywhere in the world on it in 2011. The whole hitchhikers guide idea in my head as I pulled up Wikipedia on the built in web browser that’s still listed under “Experimental”. *Possibly phone companies are shutting down 3G I think and all the new kindles have 4G.

Nice. I remember reading about that but never tried it. The biggest shock to me is how organised I was in the past, as it’s been at least five years since I looked at it. Everything is sorted into collections and file names are all ‘author - book [- series] - file type’. I think I was running Calibre back then so that may have helped. Today my ebook are in a folder on the NAS that’s only separated as fiction/non-fiction.

I still use my old Kindle Keyboard, the same model as yours; it's invaluable on vacation. I just took mine on a cruise and remembered (back before the cruise line offered or gave any kind of Wifi) taking it onto the balcony in every port, trying to get that sweet sweet 3G so I could check Gmail...and compose replies very slowly. Love that thing, though my only collection is entitled "Done".

I'm in need of a new pair of earplugs for doing band stuff, does anyone have a recommendation for these? I used to have christmas tree style ones with a little noise filter in the end, and fairly long stalks so they could be easily pulled out. There are about a million listings but they're mostly advertising themselves as being good for sleeping with music as an afterthought.

A lot of goons who go to loud metal shows like etymotic ear plugs. I think the aliexpress thread wisdom is still "nothing that plugs into the wall and nothing that goes in you," so earplugs kind of count.

Your ears can't be repaired if damaged. Ever. Is the risk of even slightly less qc worth maybe $50 savings over an entire lifetime?

Honestly do yourself a favor and just go to an audiologist and get a custom set of musicians earplugs made. The one I went to cost about $150 out of pocket, I don't believe any was covered by my insurance at the time. I have a set of etymotics, like Rexxed mentioned, but after a whole concert my ears would hurt like a motherfucker after I pulled them out, from my experience ears don't like holding an unnatural shape for over an hour. The custom ones are made exactly for your ear shape so they don't push or pull your ear canal into a one-size-fits-all scenario like the etymotics so it feels like you're wearing nothing. The process is pretty quick as well, though weird since you have to get your ears filled up with some weird silicone poo poo and you sit there deaf since your ears are blocked ears as it hardens, then they send it off and you get the earplugs in 2 weeks. The best part about musicians earplugs is that they come with these "caps" on them that attenuate the sound, it's like lowering the volume instead of just muffling/deadening everything like regular earplugs do, and those caps can be changed for different levels of attenuation so you can change how much or little you want to hear. Mine came with 2 sets and the day I picked them up I had a concert so I was able to test it all out on the spot during the show. It was a blues concert so it wasn't a rowdy crowd and while I could perceive the difference between the caps the craziest part about the whole experience was removing the earplugs during the show and listening to how god drat loud the concert was. It was only a blues concert but the audio levels were just too much for my bare ears so I put the earplugs back in with the quickness. Another great part about musicians plugs is that it cuts out nearly all of the audience sound and you can just focus in on the music.
