It's why the 747 was the go-to jetliner

Odd sidebar, I saw both mid-90s action films starring a 747 and some other people recently, Air Force 1 and Executive Decision. Executive Decision actually surprised me at how entertaining it was. Air Force One suffered endless digressions into overblown action sequences. Also in Executive Decision once gunfire happens the plane depressurizes and a entire wall section tears away, AF1 starts with about as much gunfire as a standard Vietnam engagement and zip. Yay Kurt Russell landing a 747 and it going poorly, boo evacuating Harrison Ford via a loving zipline

The Stealth transport aircraft was hilariously stupid, but look at the writer actually understanding matching the pressurization of the 747 was important

LOL, I love how it gets into the plane and you're immediately confronted with more stairs to climb.

Now that I think about it, I'm pretty sure one of the Air Force One planes at the USAF Museum had an elevator installed for FDR to get on board. Or at least some kind of rickety 1940's wheelchair lifting mechanism.

I few in a 747 once, a Lufthansa 44 from EDDF-YVR in 2018. Upstairs. The layflat pods were darn near identical to the A350, which was not a bad thing, pretty comfortable. I remember being surprised with the, I guess, "chief steward" is what I would call him. He made an absolute point of meeting everyone, addressing them by name. Spoke to Mrs and I for about 10 minutes before we even departed. He had his own little office at the base of the stairs which he showed me and was super nice. IIRC the menu and service in general was great. I specifically planned the route/time so I could fly in one, not knowing the next opportunity I might have. Turns out, it was probably the only time.

Your dumb is leaking.
I did FRA-HKG a couple of years ago in 1A on the LH 748, was very good. Also BOS-FRA and return on the 744 upper deck shortly before they left the LH fleet; what a difference from the UA 744.

Only real issue was LH's tendency to run the cabin temp at two bajillion degrees.

They may have been on a European aircraft. Germany doesn’t have a minimum drinking age if they’re with a custodial person. Many countries have similar laws.
