The media knows their role in all of this, I just wished they flipped around all indignant about how Biden's Administration lead them around this without providing any evidence. Make a big stink out of it to get more news cycles out of it at the cost of the admin. I'd sure as hell be doing it if I was a big production wig for one of them. Ez news and views in an election year, leads perfectly into the dems being obliterated in the mid terms.

Not having the basics of a coherent national policy for waging total war despite officers on attache duty in europe pointing to the experiences of the great war. Completely politicizing the conscript base of the army with their own unique brand of imperialism. Pretty wild eh? If I remember being a Logistics Officer was practically a punishment for academy graduates at the bottom of their class, and that attitude, while hilarious, really cost them.

Not saying India should be balkanized, but just trying to recognize all the different political cultural struggles happening all across the subcontinent and why Modi and the Hinduvata are so goddamn terrifying to me.

Yeah Indian Punjab has good HDI levels and general affluence that confounds the cowbelt. The amount of REEEing I saw during the farmer's protest because they were distributing protein shakes was incredibly funny and reminded me that the indian "middle class" is to be shut out of political power entirely. Just absolute petty tyrants eternally mad at farmers and laborers with their more militant unionism. Sikkim is an edge case with a unique political history and the BJP is too cowardly to ever withdraw article 371. Still what china is doing is essentially what India did by integrating disparate economic zones into one national market which requires people to learn a common lingua franca. That's not cultural genocide.

The communications thing is interesting because this is likely the last time the US could probably impose themselves on this scale in the field. Whenever 6G comes out or whatever China's going to be the top economic power and the US would be even weaker geopolitically. You may have australia and the uk follow the line but europe and the rest of asia aint going to give a gently caress and we would have to heavily subsidize our own industry so that ATT/Verizon/Tmobile get inferior products for more money.

Al-Saqr posted:btw how is the Chinese tech industry and companies like HuaWei and stuff handling after their ban from the US and other markets? are they barely holding on or what? Huawei basically gave up the majority of their cell phone business and sold it off to another Chinese company. They still sell the higher end phones but on a much more limited basis. They are still going strong on 5G infrastructure and are diversifying heavily into other technologies. More significantly there is full on decoupling from any US reliant semiconductor/microchip suppliers and creating a completely independent supply chain. The Chinese semiconductor industry is taking full advantage. https://www.cnbc.com/2022/02/11/chinese-chipmaker-smic-posts-record-revenue-despite-us-sanctions.html
