hello yob gamers. it's been a rough few weeks for me but I've found a little solace dinking around in minecraft for an hour or two every few days. just doin a little garden and a little farm and exploring the gaping hole in the ground outside my house. after a bunch of high energy games and real-life stress it's nice to decompress with a fun lil low stakes adventure

This is fun, if you don't want to make a thread about it, at least keep it up, I don't know much about the game other then the basics but I'm enjoying the screenshots and narrative.

minecraft is too good but I’m bad at really making anything. it’s just fun to fish and dig around. never really played it with other people and bet that would be fun.

i really was hoping Minecraft dungeons was going to be a cool Diablo lite kinda game, but it was boring as hell

speaking of Diablo, I really hope they drop the ladder on resurrected soon. being able to play with a controller has been great for my old rear end hands

Okay, so there are some things to explain. Remember this screenshot? Among the cluster of Sims I dropped into town, there was a family I had made last year consisting of a Robotnik, and what I can best describe as humanizations of Scratch and Grounder from the Sonic cartoons. Grounder was over for a visit and he turned out to have the hots for Poster, and the rest is pretty much history.

While Poster and Lurker are climbing the ladders at their respective jobs, I...admittedly don't really know what to do with Grounder! So he's just staying home for the most part cranking out toy robots and doing whatever.

MORE IMPORTANTLY! This romance means I have decided Lurker will be the one to father a child. I've tried to send him out and about, but there is some kind of freakish woman shortage in this neighborhood.

Winter has arrived, and-

Y'know what, I was gonna send him downtown and make a big writeup, but I think this is update enough :stare:

I beat Horizon: Zero Dawn yesterday. Had a grand ole time. Will definitely pick up the sequel at some point but will take a break with some other things I have on my waiting list:

Considering:
  • Final Fantasy VII Remake
  • Resident Evil VII Biohazard
  • Bloodborne
  • Ratchet & Clank

I also have The Last of Us which I want to play but my wife is playing it now. I don't like playing the same game as her because she gets self conscious if she sees someone play a game she's playing "better" than her, like it makes her feel dumb. Trying to convince her otherwise has been fruitless and also, I realized, a minimization of her experience so not worth pursuing on several levels.

would value yer thoughts on it. it seems custom built for me from what i know, which is that it's a post apocalyptic robot dinosaur game.

also, a big ol patch dropped for cyberpunk and i read thru the list of updates and felt strongly that 90% of it should have been included at launch. i can eat and drink to get buffs but going to bed doesn't make a difference for the first year of the game? wild.

I may have posted about it before in this thread but it feels a little like an open-world Ubisoft game in terms of collectibles and side missions. Although better designed imo, with a pretty good story. And you get a tool pretty early on in the game that lets you force a robot dinosaur to be your ally. Letting you make enemies fight is always an A+ addition to any game

Plus it doesn't have any forced in romance side stories. Aloy just gets in and kicks dino rear end from start to finish.

Yeah it’s great. If an open world game is a flavor of game you enjoy I can’t recommend it enough. The feeling of mastery over its systems is on a constant upwards trajectory even towards the end as you start to use weapons or strategies you might have earlier avoided. Blasting off dinosaur parts never stopped being satisfying.

And as mentioned earlier, it’s refreshing to have a female protagonist that doesn’t have sexuality or romance as a feature in any way. She has no time for any of that. At one point a character tries to woo her but it’s messed up in a few ways and she shrugs it off.

The story is well done too. Very much recommended.

From what I've read the story never gets good but the gameplay remains fun and the levels look pretty.

Yeah the gameplay and design all that is so well done but absolutely love how the story plays out. How you discover the whole reasons the world is the way it is. If you have the expansion where you go into that disabled massive tentacled thing (pretty sure that's expansion content) it fleshes out even more of the story. Robot Dinos and animals are cool on their own, but when you discover why there are robot Dinos and animals, it's even better.

That's probably the one story arc that I enjoyed the most. It's like oh yeah there's definitely some chemistry here, and then you're in a scene that has the option to be a bit more intimate and she was like oh um no, sorry I'm not into girls, what did you think this was? And then she's like constantly bugging you for the rest of the game like hey boo, need some help here with the fam, *wink* and it's like oh yeah now you need me. Feeling pretty used here. So when the bossmang makes a deal with the corpos to keep his tribe safe and those idiots run off with panam to fight I was like peace yo, you're on your own.

Don't play Lost Ark for the story, play it because you want to grind and kill demons in a fun way.

Session, right? I tried a little bit of that and Skater XL and couldn't click with either. What's been going on in Session? Have you played much of SKXL?

I've put a lot of time into the game boy port of FF6 and, maybe making a decision I should have made sooner, I set that version down and went back to the super Nintendo version and it's made a world of difference

Friends recommended me the gba port for the better translation but it really hasn't been worth it for how the music and graphics are on a handheld >_< SNES version immediately wowed me with the nicer darker graphics and full stereo sound and I don't feel like replaying older bits has detracted from the experience at all, it's truly endless fun (plus I can still play it portable and with a fan re translation)

yup, session! it's still a bit buggy sometimes and still feels a bit stiff but it's getting there. the devs recently put out a whole roadmap of features they're adding to the game this year, including transitional skating stuff like grabs (hope they add footplants!). i will say it's very realistic and might not be your thing. also the learning curve of the controls is a little steep but i got used to it in like 2 hours or so. i'd say try it again if it's been years since the last time, but it is pre-alpha.

i tried running a "demo version" of skater xl i "found" and it didn't like my GPU. the HDR was really blown out and my card got up to like 90C. felt kinda "moon gravity" to me in the 15 minutes i played though
