Edit: which isn't 140 pilots, but was a lot closer than I expected. This may also be because the program was cut short--there were supposed to be more AVGs.

If isolated Russian forces are surrendering already while Ukrainian pockets are fighting to the last man this isn’t looking good for the Russians. Are the captured Russians from the air assault north of Kiev? That did not seem to go well. Imagine being on the border in some lovely natty guard unit for one of those stunts when you find out you’re actually going to invade Mexico in a couple hours that’s the kinda vibe I’m getting as far as the average Russian troop.

So it's looking like the Ukrainians decided not to commit all of their air defense and anti tank weapons on day 1. Ukraine's defense minister suggested plan is to force the Russian armor into urban corridors and hit them with AT weapons, vs. trying to engage on more open terrain. That shootdown of the Russian jet makes me think they're still retaining some capabilities that are more sophisticated than MANPADS.
