Found a totally replicable good-bad-bug in Elden Ring today. Very minor boss spoilers: A certain character out there in the game world sells an item that can bind this boss to the floor for like 20 seconds allowing you time to heal or wail on him or similar. Normally it's melee range only to the point he can't even be jumping, has to touch the rune on the floor itself to get stunned. If you use it in the hallway just before entering the fight and then haul rear end over to him, he just... decides be chill for a little while! The amount of time seems to be random and he eventually decides he's had enough of you bothering him, but it lasts for WAY longer than the stun and it's always fun to see Souls boss idle animations. Open the menu, that way your shoulder buttons won't swing weapons if they get pushed when you put the controller down. Or quit back out to the title screen!

Those are good suggestions, though I DO wish video games in general had some way to put the action completely on hold such that only pressing the same button again would cause it to continue. Maybe in the next console generation! edit: For the record Sekiro has a full pause button. The reason the Souls games don't let you pause is because obviously that wouldn't really work in a videogame where it can become an online experience with another real player at any time. Nioh for example has pausing, but disables it when any form of co-op is going on because surely the desync would be immediate and clownshoes. Dead Space 3 has some kind of ridiculous glitches related to the pause menu because it slaps both players into it and they can both control their own- including the close button, which exits it for both players. Sloppy already, but even worse is that sometimes because of the netcode if you switch pause menu sub-menus at the same time it'll play the sfx a billion times for both of you until the animation completes. Watchdogs has both invasions and pausing, but the pause is disabled if there's an invader around, which you can use as a tell

i'm sorry but I really gotta post that again. Dead Space 3 is held together with Visceral's own viscera dude. They actually thought it was a good idea to allow both players to control one pause menu and go individually into the graphics settings and poo poo. I could exit out of the pause menu while my friend was adjusting his graphics settings and it would apply them immediately
