I saw this movie in the mid-1990s, but it has to date from 5 or so years earlier.

A high school teacher assigns his students a project about making money through the stock market. In his classroom is a computer where they can make their picks and track them.

One boy discovers the computer is actually connected to the real stock market. He somehow has knowledge about a technology thing that is about to go huge and places his money on that. It goes huge and he makes loads of real money off of it. Then it's found out that somebody was insider training and I think he hides the money or something. We watched it in economics class and I don't know if we ever saw the ending.

insider trading movie + hiigh school isn't getting me anywhere on Google.

I had to do a bunch of digging, including finding a reddit post describing the same movie but which was also unanswered, but I think I found it. Is it In Your Wildest Dreams?

Edit: gently caress. I should refresh the page if I've just spent a bunch of time googling.

That has to be it. While trying to confirm it a little better, I came across this weird as hell review on Amazon.

quote:

this wholesome, family friendly film exceeded every expectation i had. the hero of the film takes you on a journey of cunning, courage and wits against the evil school bullies who steal stocks for their own gain. the young mark andrews, who abuses his family at every chance he gets, sets out to ruin an electronics empire from the inner jealousy he harbors. mark andrews painstakingly stalks a local day trader and attempts to bring him down simply because of the car he drives. luckily, the seasoned car enthusiast sees through the sham deal and forces the young mr. andrews into a showdown of wits.

horror movie i watched within the last five years. heavy bug/infestation theme but i don't remember if it's clear if the bugs are real or if the main character (a dude) is going crazy or not. most of what i remember is the last shot which is a room filling with bugs while the protag is trying to pull a huge insect/creature from inside another dude. hope any of this rings a bell.

i'm pretty sure that there was also a bit of it involving a website hypnotizing/infesting/something people with footage of going through an endless tunnel? like 90% sure that was part of the same movie and it happened to the protag's wife. ugh this is killing me.

This one might be Wounds based on a story by Nathan Ballingrud. I haven't seen it, but it sounds similar to the story and I know the adaptation leaned into bugs. Internet/phones are for sure a big thing in the story. Both of his story collections are really good in any case.

Glad to help. I'm a big fan of the author but I didn't ever check out the movie. I should give it a watch at some point- from what I remember of the story it would be stretched pretty thin as a feature length movie.

Not a movie, but American Dad has a scene sort of like this where one character elbow drops onto a villain so hard his head explodes. He later asks if the guy is going to make it and is told "...no". I think its a pretty common joke though (cause its funny).

I think it was either Spanish, portugeese, italian or french (heh). And my guess is it was released in the late 00s. The main character uses the internet to find sexual partner in a couple of scenes.

The first act reminds me alot of "Young and Beautiful".

I remember two scenes:

Girl is at a museum. She gets interested in an older man, steals his glove and runs off, he runs after her and they end up having sex.

One of the last scenes where she is forced blindfolded to orally satisfy alt of men. This takes place in a basement/dungeon where she had been before freely

Ill get creep of the year hat for this post, but its really bugging me

Scene from what I think was a 60's/70's sci-fi movie I remember my dad watching when I was a kid.

A woman lying on a table in a laboratory restrained by curved metal bars. I seem to recall her being nude but possibly she was in her underwear, she isn't wearing much at any rate. She's quite relaxed, and is filing her nails while chatting with some scientist guy who is milling about the lab. Eventually they both need to leave, and she has to remind him to take the bars off her so she can get up. She puts on a dress or gown and in the next scene runs into a woman who looks exactly like her.

This scene has stuck with me for...reasons.

Two that never got solved from the last thread:

1 - cops are questioning a guy in prison, he's been inside so long he's never seen a cigarette with a filter on it before. Also the room they're in just looks like an office rather than part of a prison, maybe?

2 - cops breach a door by sticking some kind of tactical metal bucket full of grenades to it with suction cups. It's absolutely ridiculous. Saw this late 80s or early 90s.

And a new one: one character is bad at shooting and another says "you wouldn't hit water if you fell off a boat".

This is going to be a weird one.
When I was a tiny Demilich in the early 90's, I remember seeing a horrific scene on my grandpa's television.

The scene took place in a hospital, with two people side by side in the room each laying in their respective hospital beds. The camera zooms in on one of the individuals whose mouth opens and this kind of long/gross creature slowly crawls out of the person's mouth. This long creature then reaches across the gap between the beds with its body, and then crawls up and enters the other patients mouth and continues on down the person's throat until it was fully inside the patient.

Anyone have any guesses what this might be from?

Caught the end of a movie probably on TCM or AMC in the mid-late 90s that was in black and white about a boxer or wrestler who had been either disfigured or deformed and wore a mask to hide his face. He got plastic surgery and wanted to remove his mask after his retirement fight to show the audience how beautiful his new face was. The promoter I think wanted him to either keep the mask on or wear heavy makeup to keep the audience curious. When this plea failed, the promoter ordered his opponent to try to destroy his new face during the fight.

Every search I do involving a disfigured fighter turns up a suggestion for Mickey Rourke. Christ, Google, he's not that ugly.
