So after a recent Oculus update, it logged me out of my facebook account on Oculus. Whenever I try to sign back in it asks me for a code. I checked my facebook what email and phonenumber I have attached to it. And I am not getting any codes on those. I emailed Oculus support but as per usual they are terrible. Anyone know what to do? Do you still get banned if you log in from a different facebook account than the one you original paired with the device?

Also I already have a Valve Index but I need to get on Oculus for QA for a game a friend made.

The game has a long list of issues and parts that were just a letdown in comparison to W3, but drat it looks good and it has a superb atmosphere. So it has to be cool to see it from VR.

How is the framerate? specs?

Not a pain at all to get running, no. I have Cyberpunk through GoG (but it works the same with Steam) and it's literally drop three files into the .bin directory of the game, run a .bat file (to auto set the options) then you just run it, automatically fires up in your headset.

I actually thoroughly enjoyed myself with the game when it first came out, dodged both hype before and issues after and just had a really awesome time playing it to completion. I have a powerful PC (i9-12900k, 3090) and get a solid framerate (I think the aim is 60 but I'm certain I'm getting more? Maybe? I'll have to look). You have to use a controller since no motion controls, seated position is best (and not at all what I actually like) and the gunplay is...weird since the gun is strapped to your face and you aim with your head while also sharing your turning with the controller. It's weird but functional. You really need your VR legs as well since the game steals control from you a lot during the in-game scenes, the low framerate and the general jankiness.
However playing the game is totally possible and the character interactions are goddamn stellar, Vitkor doing his doctor poo poo on you at the beginning of the game, phenomenal. At Judy's doing the first braindance thing and the characters leaning over toward you, looking at you, the presence is A+, the best I've ever had in VR outside of Alyx.

I'm using my Index rather than my Varjo because the Varjo is too weird with how it works that it seems to gently caress up all sorts mod-like situations like this, including Hitman. 'True' VR titles seem to work fine, and the sharpness still can't be beat. Just a right pain in the rear end for a majority of the tinker VR stuff, like Luke Ross' mods.

I dragged my sim-race setup to a library a couple of years ago and a bunch of kids tried it out. None of them got motion sickness. I think it's very much an age-thing. If you're a child or teenager, chances are you'll be fine. Early 20s might be ok too. And then it just gets worse the older you are. My 79 year old step-father tried it for like five minutes, and he was sick for hours. I felt pretty bad about that, though he later assured me that he was glad to have tried it.

I know about the refund policy, but sometimes 2 hours isn't enough imo. Some games aren't immediately terrible or excellent. Some games have a lengthy tutorial too. For example, with SpaceFolk City I needed 3.5 hours or so to determine it was a bad buy. Outside the refund window already.

First time I hear about ffaio, tbh. In any case I don't trust FB not banning people eventually. Piracy wise, I think there were permissive because the playerbase was small, but that's changing.

I disagree with this line of thinking.

If you spend more than 2 hours inside of a game, you've clearly been interested enough to continue on. Yes, I know sometimes tutorials are longer and things like boneworks you can spend 5 hours in the first 30 min of the "game".

But ultimately while you may not have super enjoyed it, VR games kinda cap out at 40 bucks in most cases. With the bulk 25 or under.

Whats a movie cost you to go to the theater on new release? Didn't like it? They refunding you?

I'm not saying you're wrong in the sense you may not like the game or whatever later. Happens. But fact is if you're spending that much time interacting with it, you're going to get your money out of it hour wise.

With that said, there are definitely a few games out there (sim stuff for example), that might take 2 fuckin hours to get setup and running right. Do NOT disagree in those edge cases.

Alternatively the 2 hour limit is arbitrary and is a standard simply because we all just kind of agreed it is a standard. Games are so different from each other that a blanket 'two hours' doesn't really work. being "interested" is not the same as "enjoying" or "worth it" or whatever other adjective you want to use to describe.
I don't see what a movie has to do with what is happening with games, if we're going down that road then can I say something like Costco will take my return back on food I already ate just because I didn't like it therefore the 2 hour return window isn't good enough?

I've gotten my money back at the movies. If the movie stops working or the frame rate fucks up or it makes you sick to your stomach it's very easy to walk over to the ticket booth and get your money back. Usually they throw in a coupon for an extra free movie

This makes sense. And theres that option with refunds on the stores too. You wont be getting your money back if you didnt' like it though (at the movies).

Oh it could be longer, sure. I'm not saying its a perfect system but the general use works for most things. I just disagree with the line of thinking that we need to have this crazy high value per hour of gameplay or something. Which falls into the whole if you spent 2 hours actually using the thing, well, you may have gotten your money out of it.

This really depends on the theatre. I used to work at a theatre with a strict policy against refunds for any reason except a gently caress up on our end. I remember one woman demanding a refund because she brought two small children to an r-rated movie and it was full of violence and cursing! Very satisfying to watch my boss practically laugh in her face. :lmao:

However I did get a refund for Van Helsing at one of the major chains. My friends and I walked out in the first 30 minutes and asked if we could please have our money back because it was the worst thing we'd ever seen.

Goddamn that movie was bad.

I feel like theres always going to be a few exceptions at most locations for specific things ya know? I can def see a theater realizing how bad a movie is and just saying yes to the handful of people who didn't sit through it.
