I do remember some old articles about WW2 where they talked about flamethrower guys, they won't get captured but always shot not just due to the flammable backpack but also due to soldiers being pissed off at their comrades getting cooked, is rocket artillery man going to be the modern equivalent?

The life of artillery sounds pretty wild. Shoot guns, pack it up in a hurry, and drive away quickly before the counterbattery fire lands where you were, or a cruise missile, or rockets/20mm slugs from a jet. It's either totally normal routine or compete and very sudden obliteration.

Exactly. The "war crimes" are only crimes once one side has an overwhelming advantage. Until then its just violence. The underlying crime is the leadership of Russia invading Ukraine in the first place.

The Turkish-owned ship was flagged in the Marshall Islands, for example. The thinking is probably that if it’s in that area, it’s contributing to the Ukrainian economy.
