Also, having the protagonists' super-mode turn them into blurry red smears whenever they do something cool was an impressively terrible aesthetic decision. For me, the winners are the Victory-2, the Barbatos, the Turn A, the FA-78, and the Unicorn, with the God, Nu, and Double-X being honourable mentions. They've all got strong, clean, and unique designs that clearly convey their concept and personality without too much extraneous kibble.

We did not get the appeal of it at all. If teenage boys oozing hormones don't get the appeal of your ecchi comedy then it's totally and utterly failed. It's a very practical, functional design (right down to the clear cockpit for the pilot just in case the cameras fail/get shot off), but it's also something a little bit otherworldly.
