I feel like these devolved humans might have more intelligence than the characters believe. I think if the show runners just wanted a traumatic experience they could have easily had the mermaid assault/eat the baby, but its actions were almost gentle and protective. Very bizarre.

Just tripping balls and making friends with a suddenly shimmery tree -- buddy, I've been there. Frankly, I've never seen anything so relatable on TV.

My biggest exposure to Abrahamic mythology is Neon Genesis Evangelion but between this show and that one, I gotta say I'm digging it.

The ending better just be a bunch of people clapping. Pacific Rim 2 is probably the best live action version of End of Evangelion that we are going to get and this is the best live action version of the series. Right down to weird double-crosses between ill-defined groups and children.

Nah, definitely not the end.

It's all the signal; it instigated the conception, and now it's just moving into stage 3 of its plan.

Well, she wanted to get rid of the baby. No take backsies! You asked for it, you got it.

She kinda got the best of all worlds, since the baby is alive, but she doesn't have to care for it.

I wanted to cry when Mother scolded the snake. It's just a little baby, don't yell at it like that.

Not seeing too many parallels, but with a lot of good will you could maybe see Mother as red-haired Asuka telling Father/Shinji "Anta baka" all day long and him being unable to pilot Eva (Grandmother).

Also not trying to hurt any feelings, but Thrice Upon A Time is 10x the film End of Evangelion is.

not a 1:1 just a bunch of crazy Abrahamic mythology put into a blender with crazy parent issues and souls hiding in robots and living robots.
in the same way that pacific rim 2 is a great showcase for what Avs so cleverly described as "penis crows eating things" .

This episode was pretty much a one hour showcase of parenting mistakes.

E: poo poo, well I guess it’s in the title after all. “How not to raise a child: all the techniques” Even the religious symbology seems inextricably tied to screwing up your child’s religious or nonreligious upbringing.

Yeah campion is actually pretty solid this season. He really didn’t have anything to do the first season except be the kid that didn’t die.

Maybe, or maybe it just looks like brains because it's fruit from the tree of knowledge.

Agreed. In fact all the kids annoy me a lot less than last season. The writers have done a nice job of giving them less screen time while not losing much characterization and replacing it with more snake shots and Travis Fimmel staring at things.

So Paul was the snake that made Man eat the forbidden fruit from tree of knowledge.

I guess tree will be resistant to acid. They’ll build a wooden steampunk sub and travel to Atlantis-22b on baby quest.
