lmao the literary criticism bit is nonsense. idk who Michael moorcock is but it really seems like he stopped reading when Frodo leaves Bag End. the prose deliberately (and noticeably, if you�re not a dumbass) changes once the Hobbits cross the borders of the Shire, and if you have even a passing acquaintance with historical English writing styles it�s very obvious what sort of influences he�s drawing upon. similarities between The Hobbit/the opening chapters of Fellowship and Winnie the Pooh (which I fuckin love) are because both authors are - again, deliberately - emulating traditional English storytelling, so he did nail that down, but the rest of it reads like a homework assignment by a student who didn�t have time to finish the assigned readings and had to make minimum word count with the one observation

he�s not nearly as off the mark with his plot and thematic criticisms but it comes off like an edgy teen who wants to read Fight Club instead

moorcock rules and is arguably one of the most cspam of all fantasy writers (his most famous series is about the decrepit inbred Emperor of a failed state who wants to save the world but continually fails because of his dependence on the old ways of power he learned from his forebears, which are literally demon summoning and a cursed sword that demands to feast on souls) but he also basically invented anime though his fiction, so it�s impossible to say If he�s good or bad

Bernie isn�t a democratic socialist, or any kind of socialist, is my point. he�s a Dem with slightly more liberal domestic/social policies. Jay bone would also be in favor of universal healthcare and a much more robust social safety net, environmentalism, labor rights, all the boilerplate Bernie stuff. being actually antiwar is a huge step up. I wouldn�t vote for Tolkien of course, his deeply ingrained gender/sexuality biases and paternalistic views regarding race (even among other whites) are super disqualifying imo. also his Catholicism led him to do absolutely dumb poo poo like want Franco to win in Spain so he can get hosed and I�m glad Amazon is ruining his life�s work, I just wish he were alive to cry about it
