I’m wondering if there’s been an appreciable decrease in the number of bots that are tied to Russia and other related crap in the last 12 hours. I’d love to see how many followers the bat poo poo crazy wing of the republican party, like even more bat poo poo than the other ones, lost.

I think reporters maybe got way to comfortable reporting wild weather by stepping into it, and reporting on combat while escorted by US marines, and are now making very bad decisions on where to report from.

I remember reading about them early on in the war, but nothing until towards the end.

I'm going to put more blame on the Russian infantrymen who repeatedly fired on a civilian vehicle. Journalists report from conflict zones with great frequency and often aren't embedded with military units. The Sky News crew looked about as prepared as they could be, clearly they at least had plates that could stop rifle rounds instead of just soft armor. The cameraman looks to have gotten stuck on the dirty side of the vehicle after it got hit, which is a really poo poo place to be. Body armor and armored humvees weren't much of a thing before Iraq 2. Flak vests were issued, but plates weren't as present before Iraq, definitely not much of a thing for logistics and support units. Gearing up a troop has really become its' own thing the last 20 years. And it looks like russia spent that time pounding their dicks in the mud. Not that we haven't had flaws (ACU pattern, plastic ruck frame, etc), but when you have a $700 Billion budget and lovely acquisitioning generals, you get worthless equipment somewhere. Like that NBC detector.

There's generally a reason for all of that, because generally the American military wants to win its wars, in the quickest time, at the lowest possible cost, at the lowest possible loss of life. A lot of that is logistics! Now, we *suuuuuuck* at all of the above, but we're probably one of the best militaries because all of the others suck worse. So American intel is basically saying "yeah lol the Russians are sucking, but they could still adapt to the fuckups and change tactics." But, the russians really want to win, as quick as possible, but they have two gigantic cost controls (insufficient money AND lots of grifting) and they don't give a gently caress about the lives of their military people.

It would make sense. Losses are one thing, but forcing a rescue/resupply/reinforcement effort is far more intensive and expensive, not to mention demoralising as poo poo.

The common might Russian categorize conscripts in the same mental way the average American categorizes felons, so overall they may be ambivalent. However, it may be a calculated risk so they can make NATO look like the bad guys, by bad faith actors online, which have been their most successful asset to date.
