I am old enough that I went to high school with girls who dressed in Candace's fashion, and nobody gave them collective finger-pointing poo poo for it at all. I know some girls got into arguments and trouble with what teachers considered overly revealing clothing, but that was nothing on Candace's level. This shaming storyline is really disgusting.

Lucky, my school had a hall monitor/support staff whose sole job seemed to be getting girls in trouble for wearing tank tops with thin straps. I remember a friend of mine sailing into our chemistry class and asking to borrow my extra shirt because the lady was right behind her; that woman actually came into our classroom to make sure my friend had covered her shameful spaghetti straps. They even tried to ban spaghetti strap, off-shoulder, and strapless style dresses from senior prom; we got the school board to stop that, though.

I've really been enjoying modern Val. As much as it has a different flavor from Foster's original, it really is a worthy successor.
