It having 6 turn always bothered me, both because it's a tiny ship and small ships should just have better turn, but again, because low turn sucks.

I don't imagine it is going to happen because CBS wants show content but it would be nice to have some new allied faction ships with the same polish the fancy Federation releases get. My first choices would be the Vulcans and Gorn. I want snazzy new wedge battlestars and red ring ships.

On the ship size front, I just noticed that the Cardassian flight deck carrier is only slightly larger than the Appalachia blockade runner. Shameful

Ship sizes are hosed all over, they basically inflated too much over time. Galaxy was meant to be enormous, now it's on the small end of large ships.

So since the devs gave away a full carrier what sort of traits/consoles/whatever are out there that are carrier specific ? I have Scramble Fighters on one character so I know that exists.

The big one is Superior Area Denial trait from the Mirror Engle strike wing escort, which used to be lockbox only but recently became available in the 12th anniversary Terran bundle.

lol Cryptic managed to break the Mindscape mission, this used to be a decently convincing 'infinite hallway you can't reach the end of.' Now it's just a flat texture wall.

Interesting discovery: at some point since the last time I did the Delta Quadrant, the Borg Cooperative got a bit of an overhaul. They now have distinct faction and ship icons instead of just using default Borg markings. Wonder if there's any truth to the long-standing rumor of a Borg Cooperative faction being in the works.

Feels like the borg as a threat have been so de-fanged or de-valued over the years they would just be your quirky cyborg pals that drink engine oil lattes.

The first ep of Picard s2 has the Borg queen show up and ask for asylum and to join the Federation. This has everyone collectively poo poo their pants in terror, especially when she still wants to negotiate how a Borg would.

Only issue with that is the playable Borg is one of the last appealing things about Lifetime subs, I'm not sure they'd do that when they could do something like Cardassia

Those launch era borg parts you can graft onto your lifetime exclusive characters also come with launch era poly & texture work for that special flavor of low-res hideous.

# ? Mar 7, 2022 07:23 |

Simple solution: Keep "liberated borg" as a lifetime exclusive. Sell access to a "free borg collective citizen" or whatever in another $200 pack like with the legacy of romulus or whatever. Give it different borg grafted part options and backport those same new cosmetics onto the old lifetimer race, and give lifetimers a unique to lifetimer special super exclusive LED color for their glowing robot eye so they can keep feeling special. The important thing is to paywall it behind $200. Bonus if you can encourage the existing lifetimers to pony up an extra $200 while making them think they're somehow special and smart for doing so. Use wording like "limited", "exclusive" and "value".

Bloodly posted:Asylum? From what? It's not revealed yet. The Borg queen tries to interface with the ship Picard is on, which because it's a new fancy ship would give her access to the prefix codes for the whole fleet. Picard panics and because the Borg don't explain themselves he decides to active the self destruct before she takes the ship over entirely, at which point he wakes up in the Not Terran Empire with Q taunting him and the episode ends.

It's not just a queen, it's an entire ship full of borg, and they send a queen as their emissary. They mention in the episode that the Borg were decimated and extremely messed up by what Janeway did at the end of Voyager, so it's entirely possible that the collective fractured and this is a fragment of the Borg who are fleeing. Important point of clarification RE: Picard S2e1. The Borg Queen doesn't request amnesty directly. Instead she cites Article 15, which is how a group goes about joining the Federation. The message starts "Help us Picard", so there MIGHT be an(other) existential threat to the Borg. Seven explicitly calls out the message as a trap/deception. But absolutely nothing is clear at this point. The scene jumps from "Borg Queen successfully taking over the Stargazer" to "Picard wakes up in 'his' atrium, and Q shows up to monologue a bit." Dave Blass (Production Designer on ST:Pic) has a Twitter thread with very light Picard spoilers and a ton of pretty ship pictures and some behind-the-scenes details on the Armada. I can't speculate about the timeline, but I expect we're getting Sagan and Excelsior II classes in-game. https://twitter.com/DaveBlass/status/1500760856677675008

That Federation Miracle Worker (Tucker et. al) neck on the Excelsior II is such an abomination. I like the rest of the design but good gods does that just ruin it. If they're gonna release that at least give it the Obena parts so I can make something decent looking. Like it kind of looks like it's trying to borrow from this Kelvin Excelsior concept, but drat the Kelvin one is so much better. It's one time where I would much rather have the underbite than the thick neck. Eimi fucked around with this message at 18:13 on Mar 7, 2022 |
