HK gave up on “Zero Covid” after omicron hit, wondering how long it will take for mainland to do th same. poo poo’s not great here, our lowest percentage vaccinated group is the elderly because of 中醫, it was like 30 percent last I checked for people > 60

Went from months of "I dunno, these vaccines are new and untested and possibly dangerous, I've seen a lot of stuff on FB about it" to vaccinated within a week.

Just had a lockdown-in-place announced at my school, until everyone's test results from this morning are processed. City-wide apparently, so that processing could take time. Lab doors: locked from the inside. Water supply: checked. Pure ethanol: present. Could be worse.

One of my colleagues from my language center days is working out there. She was instructed by her admin to make a bug out bag in case she gets stuck at her school. Meanwhile, we're not under an official lockdown here in Beijing, but the powers that be are wary. We have been advised to not leave the city and we can only enter or leave Beijing with a fresh 48 hour test. There was an outbreak near Yanjiao, in Hebei, about 30 - 40 minutes from where I live. My community is not under lockdown yet, but three of my kids can't commute from Yanjiao. I have to do weird Hybrid classes all this week. I'm just waiting for the other shoe to drop, honestly.

We had some schools shutting down and semi-mass testing (wasn't clear to me who all was required to get tested, other than that it included me and a poo poo ton of people ahead of me in line.) We have had 0 cases so far in the city and as far as I know 1 rumored case for the whole province.
