My first bonemass kill was just a friend and I who had heard "he's a big blob" and that was it, otherwise we went in fairly blind.

We've played a lot of various games so we just planned for the normal blob tropes (cause poison, weak to blunt, resistant to pierce/slash) and went in with iron maces and anti-poison meads. It was a cakewalk.

And yeah, of course Frostner is going to mess up bonemass, the design is that you need the thing he drops to be able to build it. I honestly feel like Frostner is in the game specifically to be the anti-swamp weapon for when you have to go back to farm more iron.

Spear hitbox sucks. Last time I tried them, you couldn't hit enemies that are even slightly downhill from you, which makes it unreliable, not to mention intensely frustrating.

Knives are good but only because you can get yourself an abyssal razor really early on, and having a tier 4 weapon in forest and swamp biomes lets you melt through the content. I haven't tested it in mountain and plains to see how it holds up.

I generally use maces because tons of common enemies are weak against crushing damage and very few are resistant to it (I think only trolls and abominations?), and Frostnir is just too good, especially when playing solo.

I find the knife leap attack very useful for killing cultists. It will stagger them then you finish them off

Still haven't seen a stone golem inside a cave which is weird. This char got insane trophy luck: first dungeon had a rancid remains that dropped trophy, then first wraith dropped a trophy, second serpent, third abom, but then it was 20th cultist.

I really wish Fulings were a bit bigger as they are drat hard to spot in the tall grass.

I generally dont like mountain and i still feel there isnt enough variety in terms of mob variety, but more at its basic i dont think ive ever seen even a 1 star drake. 2 star wolves i only ever fought one and dont even know if there are tougher werewolf spawns either.

Yes.
Finally got around to exploring some ice caves; they are definitely very spooky and cool. Kinda make me wish for an indoors minimap though, they seem more random in their layout than the other dungeon types. Might be just a matter of getting accustomed though, I only found two so far.

Same, they're super fun but rather confusing.

Just hugging one wall gets most of it but these do have isolated islands, which makes it go a little wonky.

I apparently have a draugr farm in the first swamp crypt I explored. There's a room that I've opened enough to shoot into and there are like 30 spawners in there or something, the flow of them is endless. I take three down and by the time I've walked over to start picking up guts there are three more. If I ever finished opening this door the world would end in a zerg rush of draugr.

I just wish they'd only spawn with melee weapons, those bows hit hard. A two star with a bow showed up and that was a hell of a fight, I never want to have to do that in the open.

Back in the days of Morrowind, cliff racers used to annoy the poo poo out of me - then some kind soul created a mod that makes them ignore you if you're significantly higher level than they are. I need that for greylings and greydwarves, they are irritating as poo poo. I don't want to use the mod that turns down their frequency because I need their eyes.

It's pretty easy in the open, you just never stop side strafing and they can't hit you. Takes forever but works fine as long as nothing else is chasing you.

Plus one million to this. There really really needs to be a way to tell the game "hey I'm building poo poo right now and I'm in the Meadows with Plains tier equipment, I do not wish to be interrupted by greylings every fifteen seconds thanks."

I get the whole "there always needs to be danger" ~vision~ the devs have but there is no loving danger here, it's just tedious swatting of flies. It would be a better game if they'd let people who want to enjoy building cool poo poo just enjoy building cool poo poo without having to plow hours into building moats and fences first.

Tamed wolves seem like a good role for that too but they need a way to come back "home" or have some kind of prescribed area to roam.

A rune ward or totem that causes fear/barrier to greydwarves would be pretty neat too.

Greydwarf eyes for fuel.

Actually, that made me think of putting up trophies as a ward for that particular monster, or being able to craft a ward totem or something out of a stack of trophies. Being able to use trophies in some way would be nice.

Yeah trophies make the most sense to me: by having them you've shown the game that you can kill significant numbers of the enemies in question and so they are less of a threat. If you wanted you could make the wards stop working during the invasion events to keep those impactful.

Hey all, just started this game totally fresh and I need some suggestions/help. I just killed the first boss so now I can mine. I explored the dark forest a little bit and found some more I can harvest, but the other two resources I need are proving to be harder to find. Is there like a cave or something in the dark forest? Also, how far away from the spawn do I need to find the ore that is by the water?

Copper is found in the middle of the forest in big boulders that are usually 3/4s buried. They looks slightly different than normal boulders as in they have a shinny streak in them. When you are on top of one it will say "Copper Ore". Each boulders yields roughly a cart full of copper ore. Tin ore is found on the shoreline in small rocks that required breaking them. Each one usually yields 3-4 ore. I don't think there is any relationship to spawn point for their occurrence. There is something like a cave in the dark forest and there is a resource you will need in order to smelt the copper and tin ore in them. Keep exploring, they tend to be plentiful.

Aside from blunt being kinda always relevant, just use whatever weapon you like best, you can't really hamstring yourself unless you totally refuse to use a mace against certain enemies.

This basic rear end club seems to be doing well against these skeletons. Speaking of which, I found a skeleton spawner or something like it (it looks purple). Should I destroy it or keep it alive to farm materials from it?
