My wife just became part of the most  office email chain I've ever seen. She works for the botanical garden's scientific publications division, which does a lot of technical and professional publishing for botanists globally. The garden director sent an email wishing luck to a Ukrainian colleague who will be out of communication for a while "defending the priceless Ukrainian herbarium." Then the colleague replied all with some bloody pictures and the text "Territorial Defense helped patch me up and stop the bleeding. Banshees are howling tonight. I don't give a gently caress. Army are heroes. Forward this to the office." Again, this is a botanist.

I just lol at the folks that get legit upset about people celebrating things like the Ghost of Kyiv, Snake Island, etc. while knowing that they are either non-factual or embellished. The people of Ukraine are being brutalized and murdered by a lovely villain, don't get upset that they and those who support them find joy and resolve in stories of heroism.

Also, don't a number of them rely on specialist parts produced outside of Russia that aren't accessible anymore because of sanctions? Also how long does it take to train up a crew to actually work one of those tanks adequately anyways?
