Forty-Spotted Pardalote quote:The forty-spotted pardalote (Pardalotus quadragintus) is one of Australia's rarest birds and by far the rarest pardalote, being confined to a few colonies in the south-east corner of Tasmania, mainly on Maria Island and Bruny Island.

So had that bird poop storm I'd posted about a page back and I read that if you tie up some shiny objects on your trees that birds are scared of it and will gently caress off. Surprisingly, it seems to have worked. I found a silver shipping bag, cut it up into strips and tied them to several of my trees. Now my car can live in peace. Could be a coincidence but what a weird method to gently caress with birds. The article I read also said you can hang CD's and DVD's to achieve the same effect so there's a use for all that stuff you barely ever use.

Scientists think that the woodcocks' irregular movement and bouncing around is supposed to make worms and other underground bugs think it's raining and thus safe to come to the surface where the bird grabs them.

In other words, they walk with rhythm to attract the worm.

So that’s what that looks like when a bird is using it for its intended purpose instead of a human guardian showing it off to the other humans. The whole stationary head thing. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JGArTWOJtXs

I've been using some wildlife cams I picked up to solve a mystery of who's burrowing in my shrubs. My second cam on the tree didn't help, but it did pick up some excellent birbs this morning. https://i.imgur.com/bQmT5gB.mp4 https://i.imgur.com/kobUHBQ.mp4 https://i.imgur.com/1dlm2JK.mp4 The bush cam also picked up this pair I've seen around but never realized there was more than one. https://i.imgur.com/dSFiaza.mp4 (the mystery burrower was a pair of rats, if you're curious...there's also an excellent rabbit living somewhere in there)

This is like filming a burning grenade from point blank. Either these people are incredibly bold, or they have no clue what these monsters are.
