New Russian balk map?

Anyway, the argument is that Putin just united the capitalist interests with state interests. Created a nationalist bourgeoisie block. The state and the bourgeoisie exist to support each others interests. Problem is that Russia is suffering from dutch disease and is under developed industrially. Majority of the ruling class interests are still tied to exports of fossil fuels.

my thoughts on choosing Western development models can be summed up by the Bataan Nuclear Power Plant, brought to you by Westinghouse

(Under IMF type development models they had to take the Westinghouse proposal. Because it was cheaper. Even though it had no specifics and may as well have been written in Crayola)

Iirc in the US there are only like four companies legally authorized to build nuclear power plants (one of them hasn't existed for 20 years)

I think the video is a bit biased, so take it with a grain of salt imo.

I just say this by looking at other Russian socialists expressing their view on the war, and they all obviously have their own domestic view on it. It's very different from a western view on the whole thing, who have their own concerns.

Everyone right now is just speculating and can't really predict the future. The global supply chains and financial systems are so complicated that the consequences of everything that happened already, and hasn't happened yet, are very difficult to predict if you ask me.

Like yeah obviously Putin and the bourgeoisie are loving the Russian working class and poo poo is going to suck super hard for everyone going forward.

Russia made a $117 million payment on dollar-denominated debt using assets frozen by Western sanctions.

The western bourgeoisie are also feckles cowards and aren't willing to destroy their system of global capitalism either. So while you can be hyper focused on Putin and him destroying Russia, you might not be as aware of faults of the western capitalists.

fair enough, there is no surefire way to predict the future but the people i've been reading have been mostly in accord on 'poo poo will get reeeal bad.' most catastrophic were branko milanovic's predictions, just abject terror reading that and i sincerely hope he's wrong.

beyond him, among the russian socialists i follow vestnik buri, konstantin syomin and oleg komolov are imo the closest i can get to putting the science in scientific socialism, and their takes on the war and the russian economy have so far been mostly in accord. syomin's telegram canal has been darkly funny to watch as he just collates western company after western company pulling out, sanction after sanction being enacted etc. every day there's like a 100 messages and like 80 of those is about sanctions. it is truly unprecedented blowback and im having a hard time grasping how there wasnt already a plan for all of this. like on the part of the west to just simultaneously shut off every russian operation

anyway, im curious to broaden my perspective on these issues so if you got more recommendations on people/channels to follow im all ears

I don't think anyone was ready for the mass hysteria this caused in the west. The NATO response has also been incoherent what with the shipping over new fighters to Ukraine, so it suggests that nobody was ready for what happened. That's why I think it's so hard to predict what will happen, because everyone is kind of just winging it.

And yeah I am doing the same thing with videos, and right now I do think all Russian socialists kind of sound the same because they share the same perspective. Like this guy from three weeks ago https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CCNriiim3z4

The question is also though about much Western companies can permanetly detach at this point as well especially if many of their competitors are staying, there has already been some signs of softening from the EU and Japan. I wouldn't say it is an issue of terror but probably the first of a series of detachments that will gradually happen over time.

The Ruble also offers some clues as the panic has worn off and it has started to consolidate.

This series seems pretty interesting. It has kind of a hard russian nationalist bent to it, and I guess that's what makes it different from other socialist perspectives.
