No. I refuse to believe this isn't some kind of bug, because if it's not then that means there's more doors like that throughout the rest of the game and for my own sanity I refuse to accept that

I think when people die they end up in the erd tree which is where the remembrances come from, didn't you notice in the dungeons those roots that look like they have people in the roots? basically the entire order of the lands between is setup by an alien being that fell from space to keep humans feeding the giant tree by dying and becoming essentially fertilizer for it. the reason why the greater will (the aliens) calls the tarnished back is the feed supply is drying up and they need more gristle. Ranni is an XCOM agent sent to depose these aliens

That’s not what I asked. I’m well aware of the Erdtree transmigration deal, I just don’t understand what happened to Godwyn’s corpse as a result of the Night of Black Knives, and why it looks like that now. Or what it even looks like now.

i am really baffled by the thing in multiplayer where status effects are applied if you successfully roll the attack. Is this intentional? If it's a bug, I don't understand how the hit trigger for status effects and taking damage is different. If it's intentional, I don't understand why it's intentional

This is the 7th(?) Soulsborne game so at this point it's obvious they have no plans to change this, but the camera should really zoom out when you're fighting large bosses like that.

All of these games since…I think DS2? have dynamic camera zoom. Just not as much as you want, probably. Sekiro uses it particularly heavily, zooming way in and way out for various attacks. I haven’t checked Radahn for this specifically since I’m still on playthrough 1 but my guess is it’s a question of “how much” rather than “if”.

IIRC there are some things in Dark Souls that for scripting purposes have a sort of hp bar that is used to break walls, like a boulder smashing through something. It could be that that wall had the same sort of thing and the weapon is bugged to deal that damage to it

This has been a thing for ages, along with the paired "feature" where you can dodge roll through the bleed effect triggering

Realised I was missing the Night’s Cavalry Flail, quick google and apparently I’ve missed about four Night’s Cavalry. Went to the weeping peninsula dressed in full Night’s Cavalry set, +24 Night’s Cav halberd, various talismans and faith buffs and imbued lightning into the halberd.

Annihilated that bastard’s horse in two hits, then dismounted and finished him off as he was laying on his back. Cathartic after the dual boss.

I’m the Night’s Cavalry now.

When I fought the Night's Cavalry duo, I fought them one at a time, and if you pull them far enough back from the cart they're escorting (about 2/3s of the way to the site of grace nearest the cart's start point) they start giving up the fight after only making one attack and leave themselves open to hit and runs like crazy. Kill Mr. Flail, go get his friend, repeat.

Yea me and a few other people were talking about this earlier. This game can be extremely weird with it's level design language and how it hints at you to go forward.

So I may have hosed up my game, does anyone know how to fix this?

I didn't talk to Melina right before fighting the fire giant (i just forgot to). After beating him I talked to her and she thanked me and torrent for bringing her this far. My understanding is that I am to speak to her at the grace before the forge and she teleports me from there, but now there is no option at any grace to speak to her. How do I get to the next zone??

Oxxidation posted:

there's one last grace that's literally atop the forge itself. climb onto the basin and it's all the way on the left-side curve

Here it's not as cryptic because you've run across a few chains already, but still the design of it has you running over a skinny, awkward bridge towards another huge empty skinny ledge that in a lot of other games wouldn't have much of anything there, but here it's the path forward.

And again by this point in the game you're used to it, but there are a lot of other spots where the way forward has you leaping off a normal looking path with a rather far drop onto awkwardly shaped roof geometry and then on to some tiny ledge.

This isn't really a complaint or anything, more just an observation about how strange it can feel when level design normalities get tossed out and how it can make the path forward can feel kind of weird or arbitrary when it happens.

The answer is Godwyn has become a new god/demigod being called the Prince of Death. Marika buried him at the base of the great tree because of the whole being buried at the roots is honoured thing. His body is bloating with the energy of death, but because his soul is actually gone he's effectively in a permanent coma. Ranni has the reverse, her body is dead but her soul is alive. In theory if only one person had been killed by the Rune of Destined Death then this wouldn't have happened. Either Godwyn would fully have died and then become the new god/demigod of death, or Ranni would have fully died and been forgotten. Now the only hope for Godwyn is that Fia can revive his soul via her deathbed companion abilities.

That's either not actually Godwyn and is an entirely different demigod corpse (notably, Godwyn has the same head in the Deeproots if you take a look up at him) or because of him fusing with the roots of the tree he's got corpses starting to grow all over the world in the depths of the tree where people can find it. Might even be tied to the Ulcerated tree-spirits come to think. Prince of death Pustule could easily also be related to the idea of ulceration (to become effected by ulcers).
