hooman posted:SA Libs' woke ideology such as uhhh.... ???? That talking point usually gets used by weird columnists who are often based in the eastern seaboard to refer to the SA Libs either: - introducing euthanasia legislation - getting rid of some archaic anti-abortion law - continuing the existing project of building renewable energy infrastructure and the transmission lines to export it interstate - ending an annual car race Only the last one even came up during the election campaign, and it was barely mentioned. The first three were bipartisan anyway I think there are minor some ideological differences between the SA Libs and their national/interstate counterparts, which makes them a little less conservative sometimes but I think they’re actually just doing that to play to a portion of their base here, which is basically the opposite argument to people who think that costed them the election The election was almost entirely about health. The only other thing that mattered was the lack of third parties running E: beaten by other posters for some of this

Don't try to look for specifics. It's just easier to blame things on "the woke agenda" as a vague meaningless phrase that gets all the right-wingers riled up. It also means it's not their fault that they lost. It's the fault of the filthy pinko commie leftists, but this time they are coming from within! The best option is ScoMo hears, and takes heed, and pivots hard right and hard fundie. Completely missing the point and completely misreading the room, (as per usual). Leading to his sound defeat, (which he will blame someone else for.)

the sa libs are i think easily the least successful of any major party of any state in the last 50 years, consumed by infighting & factional issues to a degree beyond even the other state liberal parties. the moderate/conservative split seems to be particularly strong there, with rival political dynasties for a long time. another good crikey piece on the kitching situation https://www.crikey.com.au/2022/03/22/kimberley-kitching-truth-press-gallery-wont-talk-about/ there's another rundle piece but it's mostly just a meandering account of the funeral & descends into rundle's worst crank territories so i'm not going to link it lih fucked around with this message at 08:26 on Mar 22, 2022 |

I had to do a "oh it's about trans men" bit in my head. It's a very bad question and they would/should have just asked something more direct about trans people if they wanted a real opinion. The only answers I straight up don't like are the defence spending one (we just recently committed to buying a shitload of stuff Albo ffs) and the negative gearing one. Everything else was some hedge or non-answer or something that I'd want a follow-up before I formed an opinion. Terrible to do it though. EDIT: Oh the uranium one as well I guess. I thought it was why can't we sell uranium or something, I dunno. I think the format is designed for people to misread what is being said.

Uranium question is very open ended. Use it for what, door stops? Can we have nuclear power stations? Doesn't add up economically. Can we do more in the nuclear processing cycle? Probably, I don't know the numbers. We could be a safe nation to have a nuclear fuel enrichment cycle, we only sell yellow cake at the moment.
