Normally "thank you notes" are bullshit performative politeness inflicted on people by etiquette obsessed parents/relatives. But this is very sweet. I'm glad this old lady got to enjoy her VHS collection, and I hope she got a good price on the player.

I sold it to an old man through an ebay-equivalent site, and afterwards he sent me a lovely email where he explained he'd gotten his granddaughter to help him set up an account and how the kettle reminded him of his parental home. Incredibly sweet, especially since the most you normally get out of people is "got the item, thanks" or nothing at all.

Hyperlynx posted:Is it just me or do they sound somewhat like Doom 2016's soundtrack? There's basically a whole genre that is "somewhat like the Doom soundtrack," it's called djent. (Before any metalheads get at me, yes, Mick Gordon technically just incorporates a little bit of djent style in his playing but it's easily the most mainstream place most people will get exposed to it.)

Meshuggah are basically the creators of that genre best known for this song Bleed, because the drumming on it is absolutely insane. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bAJ1WTGNISk Modern djent sounds more like these guys tho, Animals as Leaders. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0jpOBd949O4 If you like that, but it's too heavy for you, you have bands like Covet, who are very technical but play happy music. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FTxSXUzc96A Large Testicles fucked around with this message at 22:38 on Mar 22, 2022 |

In a similar vein, Proscriptor McGovern will be the god of extreme metal until someone can best him. He's getting on in years and I hope a new young Proscriptor will emerge. Here's a live shot of what PMcG was capable of in the height of his career, a man playing drums faster than most professional drummers while screaming his lungs out. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VLEYvjUyixc

Alas, no pictures, but I just stopped by the post office to grab a package and it sounded like a high pitched alarm was going off somewhere. Turns out the old couple in front of me was just picking up their own box full of ducklings all peeping away. I could only see them a little though the air holes but the post office employees were all fawning over them and saying goodbye. Pretty blessed.

We raised chickens for quite a few years when I lived at home, and regularly got some new breeds every year two. It still boggles my mind how easy it was to just pick up a farm catalog and order some baby chicks through the postal service.

IIRC baby chicks are easy to mail because newborns don't need food for a couple of days as they're still coming down from all that egg-y goodness.

Maybe I'm just paranoid about terrorism but I don't think I'd accept a package that was peeping.

A love poem my father wrote for my mother shortly before they got married, circa Feb 1977. Their 44th anniversary was on the 21st (First day of spring, on a mountaintop). He passed away Jan 2021 last year. (link in case of not showing up for you either https://imgur.com/SHRkr3n) It says: ""Linda, Reality & Me: Years of uncertanty Differences undefined. Visiting unhappy homes made happy for my visit. Pitying glances for unshared misery. Different. Then you Different? Love, contentment, harmony, defined thru each other. (us) - Phil, Feb 1st 1977 PS Love is better than lust But they sure go well together"
