Women are wonderful animals, they should be making music and writing novels about having a complex relationship with your mother.

Nope. The movie is comparatively mainstream for its director.

OK this is more than enough information to figure out both movies

The American cut of this film removed a couple minutes from the ending. The title was also changed for the American release.
The foreign title has a made up word in it.
It is a theatrically released movie with name actors you would recognize.
One of the recognizable actors had a role in Blade Runner
One of the recognizable actors had a role in Twin Peaks
It combines two genres that are not typically combined.
One of those genres is sports
The name of the other genre is hyphenated.
While the movie was a flop and is not very well known, I genuinely expected people in this forum to know about it.
The character in the background is about to put a coin into the skull in the foreground, at a party.
Guessed by DeimosRising: Salute of the Jugger

This film takes place entirely in a single building, and over the course of a single night. I think the events happen in real time, if they don't it's at least pretty drat close.
The movie takes place in a radio station
While the cast is entirely Japanese actors, one small role is played by an actor that American audiences would be familiar with.
That actor has worked with Tom Cruise and Gozilla
The film is a comedy about putting on a show. The show does not go to plan, and everyone involved is forced to improvise to amusing results.
This movie won two Japanese Academy Awards
The character in this screenshot is simulating a rainstorm, which was made necessary when the setting of the show was changed from Japan to Chicago.

OK first off if Salute of the Jugger has that few views on Letterboxd then all that reveals is the low standard of Letterboxd membership.

And secondly, no it has like ten times that.
