A lot of people on twitter are saying that this was a bad move and that they can't vote for the NDP anymore but I feel like this is probably the best the NDP can do in it's currrent iteration and expecting any different is stupid. The party has probably finally realized it can't win for the next long while and that Quebec is probably never going orange again in our lifetimes. I wonder why they didn't get some junior minister positions though?

if you expect the ndp to make bad moves, there's no contradiction! I don't think an election now does the ndp any favours, so I understand propping up the government, but extracting future promises of means-tested programming is literally the least one can get from federal liberals. sure would've been nice to hear "the ndp will be happy to support the government. the first bill we support you on is universal dental care"

yeah if there at least was some kind of timetable where in one year the basic details had to be worked out, in two the details of how it would be implemented were to be ready, and in three, before the next election, it would actually be in place and working, with the explicit threat that any missed deadline would have the ndp withdraw support, then i might have a tiny sliver of hope that something might come out of this otherwise lol

I think Jagmeet intends to get out after 2025 at this point. It's gonna be hard to campaign against the government you've been propping up for the last 4 years. If Pharmacare and the runt-Dental Care programs are successful I can also imagine it might make the Liberal's image problem go away by 2025.

Whether or not voters will buy it, or care enough to vote NDP, I've no clue.

If the LPC doesn’t follow through, the NPD isn’t going to support them. Not totally sure, and it’s all just words so we will see. more details: https://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/trudeu-jagmeet-singh-deal-government-1.6393021 maybe it’s not so bad? Literally every tweet involving the ndp will have a ton of alleged "life-long supporters" saying this was the final straw. And not just in cases like this where it's kinda understand able if you hate the grits and don't want to work with them, but even when Jagmeet calls out racist politicians or Ashton retweets Jeremy Corbyn and the like! I'm sure many of them are genuine, at least with news like yesterday, but it doesn't seem to mean that much in terms of actual votes or popularity.

there were a lot of tweets last month from genuine NDP supporters angry that Jagmeet betrayed the people's convoy by supporting the emergency act, even after they graciously offered him an unspecified position in their junta. a lot of those supporters also seemed to really love #bitcoin btw not sure why
