I've listened to it enough times that it's starting to feel like a roller coaster I've been on before, but there's still something a little uncanny about the transitions and when they start duetting or something. weird song in an otherwise unremarkable but very fun album

Crash is imo gonna be a minor work in Charli’s discography but also still slaps, especially that streak towards the end with Baby, Yuck, Lightning and Used to Know Me. But there’s nothing that quite reaches the heights of her last album, which I love unreservedly. Motomami bangs also, Rosalia gets to show off her voice and spread her wings a little more, although none of the album tracks quite live up to the singles aside from CUUUUUuuuuuuuute and La Combi Versace. I thought Charli's last album was rather uneven despite the praise. Some all-time bangers like Gone in there but also a lot of meandering stuff that doesn't go anywhere like her track with HAIM. Prefer the new singles coming out of Crash, I think her guest spots here are a better fit.

Aside from the singles that were already out, Lightning and Yuck are the two standouts for me. Hope she gets some heavy hitters for some remixes.

I watched the Olivia Rodrigo thing on Disney+ and man the new instrumentations on some of these tracks absolutely slap. The singles don’t get it as much (although Drivers License totally benefits from a full band) but Jealousy Jealousy feels like it reaches its biggest impact as a full-on rager and even songs like Happier feel more whole. I would happily (lol) replace a few of these with their live versions if we get these on streaming (although based on Folklore that’s very much not a guarantee. Has anyone else listened to the new Kilo Kish record? It’s very… I guess out of time is what it most strikes me as. The arcade metaphor and occasional bleep bloops of chip tunes, the reoccurring breakbeats, even the style of synths feels very at odds with what pop sounds like now. I don’t know how I feel about it, it’s definitely not something that instantly catches your ear but I love her voice and the production is well done.
