Their whole deal is space gas, it's what gives them power and 'weeds out' most everyone else so that was just sticking to canon. as a child the fact that X and magneto were coming from the same place and ultimately had the same objective and the conflict was over how to get there was some good rear end writing. deep poo poo mad respect for magneto. do not like the big killer robots but I can deal didn 't know I was being brainwashed tho
