Gas has been up there for a while, but some independent gas station near me changed ownership about a year ago, and they have been a full 50 cents cheaper than every other gas station in the area since, including another gas station directly across the street. I have no idea how that works, unless they are some sort of money laundering front and don't care about profits or every other gas station on earth is just ripping you off.

Also, got a Jamba Juice that is very poorly blended so the straw keeps clogging, worst day ever.

Unless it's a work car, I don't drive since I loving hate driving and spend most of my time behind the wheel in an uncomfortably close to panic attack state. My partner is the car person and she switches between her main car and her motorcycle as prices and needs dictate. She mostly drives her early 00's manual Chevy Tracker that has a rebuilt engine since it died last spring and it was cheaper to rebuild the engine than buy a new car for her. To be fair she only paid like $700 cash for it a few a years ago after her last manual Tracker died so to her $4K to build a new engine didn't seem to terrible and we could afford it pretty easily. We also have an early 00s Camry that I can drive in case of an emergency and since it was her grandma's car it only has like 75K miles on it since she only used it for church or the casino before she stopped driving.

Oh dude! It's a spectacular day to be in SF.

Yeah gas in downtown SF is about as expensive as you'll find anywhere, but even out here in the east bay it's at like $5.75 or something.

Ghiradelli chocolate is good, Ghiradelli square is a hypertouristy spot that is just fine to check out anyway.

You are right next to Hyde Street Pier. Do you like old ships? There's some cool old ships you can explore right there, if you need something to do for an hour before dinner. Alternatively, you're right next to the Cartoon Art Museum.

Dungeness Crab is in season. Get some, any way you can. My preference is Cioppino, which was invented in San Francisco, but if you don't want that, get some fresh crab some other way.

Mobsters used to form shell companies that own a gas station, just not pay any taxes, when the feds wised up (sometimes took years) they'd sell to a different shell company and start all over. And they'd rake in cash because they could sell gas cheaper than companies that paid their taxes without affecting their bottom line.

That's kinda wild; I remember reading a story during the last time gas prices spiked about a gas station selling gas way cheaper than anyone else in their area being forced to close down because gas companies refused to sell them gas. I wonder how long it'll be before that station has the same problem

Btw, if anyone wants to see the good poo poo. Satoshi Kon's four movies are streaming for free this week here: https://watch.eventive.org/satoshikon

These movies are all loving amazing and well worth your time.

Tokyo Godfathers - A trio of homeless people, a middle aged alcoholic, teenage runaway and trans woman stumble upon a missing baby on Christmas and try to take care of it. It's one of my favorite films, and definitely the most heartwarming of his works.

Millennium Actress - A surreal series of stories within stories about an actress who retired after a long film career giving interviews to a documentary crew and the person she's spent her life chasing.

Paprika - Inception, but instead the real world and dream worlds start melting into each other creating a psychidelic nightmare. Seriously, watch the opening to this movie, the visual effects and transitions are so loving great.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HW0v-NuudQw

Perfect Blue - Former jpop idol turned serious actress goes through a nightmarish psychological thriller.

Perfect Blue hosed me up as a teen when I first saw it because I'd somehow heard all the Jpop songs and didn't expect it to go the directions it went. You can definitely see how it inspired Aronofsky too. It's a great movie. People should also check out Paranoia Agent for another surreal show that's great and also freaked teenage me out.

Your avatar is also making me want to get high and re-watch Dark Place since it's on Prime for free (if you have Prime).

Yeah, I was being a bit light handed with "inspired". I have never watched all of Requiem for Dream but I have watched Black Swan multiple times since it's one of my partner's favorite movies and that's always the movie that I think of when I think of how much Aronofsky borrowed from Perfect Blue.

Triple post time:

Y'all got recommendations for multiplayer pc games with relatively low barriers (price + technical requirements) to entry?

Looking for chill online time with friends while in voice chat with them.

Free to play stuff is good - like Heroes of the storm
Low technical barrier to play stuff is good - like Stardew Valley
Stuff that isn't super "twitchty" skill based is good - so want to avoid stuff like FPSs

Late to the question, but..

Once again I find myself proselytizing for Game Pass for PC. The bad: there is some jank and absolutely don't use it for voice chat. The good: it is basically free for the trial period (never too hard to find a $1/month for first 3 months deal), and still relatively cheap after that at $10/month. I know that's not nothing, but it's a fantastic way to try a lot of things with zero potential of playing something you don't like because of sunk cost.

Going through the multiplayer games on there now, the following match some or all of your requests:
Age of Empires 1-3 (idk how chill RTS's are, but potentially if no one gets way too competitive about it)
Astroneer
Deep Rock Galactic (ok, it's an FPS, but on Hazard 1 or 2 you could walk through it)
Farming Simulator 19
Gang Beasts
Golf with Your Friends
Human Fall Flat
Minecraft
Overcooked 2 (again, pushing the limits of chill)
Starbound
Stardew Valley
Super Mega Baseball 3 (probably 2 players max?)
Tetris Effect Connected

Not on Game Pass but still recommended:
Factorio (Steam says multiplayer, I have not tried this)
Mount Your Friends
Satisfactory
Terraria
Totally Reliable Delivery Service
Valheim
Viscera Cleanup Detail (this is our go-to chill and chat, but whoever has the beefiest PC should host)
Wingspan (PC version of the board game)

Finally, everyone in your potential group should have the Epic store installed and have at least one person checking the weekly free game, because those are yours for free forever if you claim them during that week. Sometimes there are good ones in there, too.
