Everybody wants to be the weed clearance martyr until they become the weed clearance martyr.

Its honestly a weird circumstance. A lot of officers will say "great, can't be kompromat if they admit it" and a lot will be like "federal crime, instant fail." If you're actually on a 1st name basis with staff leadership sponsoring the clearance they'll sometimes do their best to arrange the former. Meanwhile lying about it means federal time for perjury. Either way you can say goodbye to even non-clearance federal service if you fail a clearance background check.

Its all really dumb and they should legalize it.
