He just assumed everyone would want one for relatively short 1 man trips and maybe that would have worked out, except most places they were not legal for use on public roads nor sidewalks. A version that topped out at 5mph like mobility scooters might have been legal on sidewalks, but Segways went much too fast for sidewalks and mobility scooters go much too slow for commuters. As it is they are only allowed on private property, which is why the mall cops use them.

There was a guy that used to ride one of these along the bike trail into work. Every morning he'd have a train of lycra tryhards behind him going full steam trying to keep up. Thing could hit like 50km/h, it was pretty cool

Onewheel is much safer because of the weight sensor, easy bail out which shuts the motor off instantly since you are no longer pushing the weight sensor and it doesn’t go 40 mph. EUCs are for the speed freaks, not floaters dude.
